Finally here after endless mock drafts, listening and watching several teams podcasts. This much is for certain this draft is going to be electric. it’s a given that the Cardinals are going to be a major player in this draft. I expect that we will see some fireworks even before the draft with some trades and draft maneuvering. The Vikings are definitely eyeing the number three spot with the patriots for a trade up and the feeling is that they are leaning towards JJ. If Drake Maye is sitting at 4, all he!!is going to break loose in Cards war room. This will the busiest that Monti will ever be.
First, the Giants would love to have Maye. They would almost certainly switch picks and cough up a number two. Maybe we could get even more. Second Denver does want to make move. They might even in super desperation switch picks and trade Surtain. Their really only good bargaining chip. That’s what I would demand. With the 12 pick, who knows Cards could get a Edge they covet, Brian Thomas Jr- he will be great, JC Latham-monster tackle.
The vision of this team is going to be run first, pound the rock, complete ball control/time (if you have it recorded go back and watch the Eagles game- never punted once. The Eagles offense was watching helplessly wanting the ball back). Monti wants to give JG the defense he needs and craves. This is winning football and I am more than ready for it.
Side note- For all the MHJ fans (I am certainly one of them) this not going to be an Air Cardinals or Cardiac Cardinals team. After all how many touches does a wr get in a game? Plus we have a great young TE, Michael Wilson at least wr2, the ball will be spread around with play action passes and occasional deep shots down the field.

Want to expand a little on Denver trade option. Sure Denver would not want to go for the Surtain deal without getting something more in return. I would throw in one of our 3 picks and a future pick. This is the trade I would really want to see. Surtain would be corner stone of the defense, shuts down half the field. Add an Edge for the pressure and JG is smoking. Make it happen Monti.

I also like to mention, no WR led a team to the playoffs or was the main reason for being a good team. A WR is always a compliment on a good team. Same with RB's. MHJ will only be as good as the person who is under center. As I have said in the past, Larry Fitzgerald was a great compliment to Warner, but he was an average WR at best under guys like Anderson or Hall. Just seems a high risk with a high draft pick for a WR who may or may not make your offense a little better and putting your eggs all in one basket. Or, trade down and get several more draft picks for guys who can help this team in more important spots, like OL, DL, LB, CB. Also a chance to increase the draft assets for next year as this team is still in rebuild mode and obviously trying to build mostly through the draft. They are still at least 2 more years away from high expectations.

So, you think maybe the Giants will make a move on McCarthy at #4 and let Maye float? That's an intriguing situation. I hadn't thought about Maye being on the board when the Cardinals pick at #6. I'm not suggesting take Maye, just wondering if he is the next big thing or the next big thunk. That's a good observation about WR's targets, touches, and TDs. A pricey rookie WR standing on the sideline is not making big plays if his number is not called, he's not open, and the QB can't see him. A lot has to go right for Harrison to become the next Fitzgerald.

Not sure the Giants would hit on JJ like Maye. That’s why I didn’t mention that. Don’t know Denver would either.

One guy I would really love to draft in 3rd is Blake Corum. Perfect back for our big bang running attack. Great back to relief Connor and future starter. Just saying Monti..

Also a chance to increase the draft assets for next year as this team is still in rebuild mode and obviously trying to build mostly through the draft. They are still at least 2 more years away from high expectations. The thing is that we don't have an Anderson or Hall under center. We have a Murray. If we did not have a Murray, I would not be pushing for Marvin so hard. I think I am safe to say that Marvin is going to have a great NFL Career. Why? Just on the fact that he will end up either on our team or with the Chargers.
Us and the Chargers have QB's with experience. There will be no learning curve for them as compared to Caleb, Drake, Daniels or McCarthy. Also, unless Odunze, Malik or Brian Thomas end up with Murray or Herbert, their production will not get close to what Marvin will get, especially in year one.
How close are we to becoming a playoff contender?
We have: QB, RB, TE, half of OT's with Paris and both Safeties. All of these positions the players are above average.
WR's one and two, Cornerback's one and two, Pass Rusher's one and two. All of these positions the players are below average, especially our WR Corp.
My train of thought is, if we take Marvin we eliminate one of the biggest weaknesses with that Corp. If we draft Cornerbacks and Pass Rushers with the rest of our picks, surely we can hit pay dirt with either the Cornerback position or Pass Rusher position or both. This is not Rocket Science. Seems pretty straight forward to me.
I just don't see the Giants trading up to #4. They just gave Daniel Jones a new contract recently. His contract was for $160 million for 4 years. Still think they will trade up for a QB? I don't, but what do I know...
Denver and the Raiders don't have the draft picks to trade up to our spot. They would have to give us more than one of there 2025 draft picks. And for those of you that use that point system, those points need to be calculated as 2nd round picks for 2025 not 1rst round picks.
So, for those of you so insistent on trading down with Minnesota, there are rumors flying around that they are looking to trade with the Patriots. That would make sense. Here is why. If you are going to give up a fortune of draft picks to go up to the #4 pick, why not just give a little bit more to get to the #3 pick and get either Maye or Daniels instead of McCarthy?
I will tell you what will be really sad. Let's say we pass on Marvin and trade down. There is no way in hell the Chargers pass on him. The Chargers lost their #1 and #2 WR's. They also lost their #1 RB. Do you think they will pass on Marvin to get extra picks? I don't think that. Let's say they take Marvin because we pass on him. Should they end up with a better Win/Loss record than us next season, then I guess we will know who made the mistake of passing on Marvin. Should the Chargers make the playoffs with Marvin and we don't, that too would suck...
Regardless of what we do in this draft, our Win/Loss record this coming season will tell us if we make the right decision...

Not sure your preoccupation with Chargers. Who Cares! They are even in the AFC. MHJ is a great wr and will have barring injury a great career. My only concern and am sure is Monti’s what is good and right for this rebuild. If Monti decides that MHJ is the pick, I will be buying the jersey.
