Eddie, writing from the San Diego Union-Tribune, has got an excellent track record as a 'Tipster' over recent years, and he is well worth keeping an eye on in the run up to the draft. He has now published what is promised to the first of his 'positional breakdown' articles, and first up is Defensive Tackle. www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sports/story/2024-04-09/2024-nfl-draft-prospect-rankings-defensive-tacklesFor readers who are looking for a brief resume of the top prospects at each positional group, then this could be a very useful 'go-to source' for information and to obtain a decent basic insight into each player on his list. I'm not saying Eddie knows it all and is some expert evaluator of talent, but he seems very good at judging the winds out there, hence his past successes with his prediction record.

Thanks for this in-depth article and I can only quibble with his list in 2 instances - I would flip flop 1 & 2 and 7 & 8. I really like the # of write-ups on "Bonus" DL and Cardinal fans should note he references a guy who has already had a Top 30 visit with the Cardinals: BONUS: Khristian Boyd (Sr., Northern Iowa, 6-4, 317)
Boyd dominated the Shrine Bowl and his impressive 38 bench press reps at his pro day would’ve been second-best at the combine. These are the types of things an FCS/small-school prospect needs to do during the draft process to get noticed. He features an explosive first step and has proven disruptive against the run. There’s a lot to work with here. Projected: Rounds 6-7 BTW: 2 other DL BONUS selections, I really like on Day 3 for the Cardinals is DeWayne Carter (Duke) and Jordan Jefferson (LSU).

I like Chop Robinson at #35 but the list has my "sleeper" pretty high for maybe a Monti 3rd round pick - #7 in the article. Edge player - Jonah Elliss (Jr., Utah, 6-2, 243)

Thanks for the DT highlight! My ideal DT is 6'4" and 325 lbs, runs the 40 dash in 4.5 seconds and does 40 on the bench press. I can dream.
Sweat was recently in the news for the wrong reason. I don't see the legal issue holding him back on Day 1. However, weight control and motivation are potential red flags. Sweat needs a strong support system from the team that drafts him. Or he might be the next Albert Hainsworth.

If a team could get 2-4 years of solid play from Sweat that is definitely worth a 3rd round pick...and 3-4th rounds is where he has an realistic chance of being drafted. Weight is a real concern, but ability to demand a double team for 1-2 plays is a real need in AZ.

He is unique and has surprising speed and has great power. He isn’t a 5-10 year player if he continues to gain weight and if a team gets him in the 3rd round he is worth 1-2 years and see what happens.
