I don't know how he's fared since surgery, but I know a few of us loved the idea of taking him if he fell to the 20-30 range. The thing I loved about him is he's one of the few DBs that can hold is own at BOTH corner and safety which gives a team the ability to carry an extra player somewhere else like WR. www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39833081/cooper-dejean-latest-nfl-draft-find-iowaThis kid also strikes me as the type that plays for the love of the game, not the money. I think he's going to end up playing safety and he'd be perfect replacement for losing Budda. Outside of Bowers, this kid might be the second safest pick in the draft.

I like him, but doubt Monti takes any safety or LB in the 1st round. JG likes low budget safeties who are better cover players than blitzers. Budda doesn’t fit the JG defense like Thompson.

Cooper is a baller and playmaker. They could make many worse selections than him.

A GM that picks BPAs will have a big smile on his face if DeJean is available.
I wouldn't "go up" and get the kid but would definitely grab him the second round or high in the third round. There are more valuable O/D players ahead of him in 2024. Not a 1st Rounder -- unless he's going to play CB fulltime. Then maybe a Day 1 25-32 pick.

I question whether he's healthy after surgery, and will make a full recovery, but if he's truly healthy, then he was previously considered to be picked between pick 16-23. I would definitely take him at 22+ if he's still around given we need help at both CB and S. (if we know Budda will be let go) Teams run so much Nickel these days that DeJean is going to be on the field, even if it's in hybrid environment. Unlike previous swiss army knife players, DeJean isn't going to have a problem going back and forth between CB/S. Health is my only concern about the kid. But if he's healthy, I think he's going to be a top-3 Free Safety in the league. And a top FS is valued a lot higher than SS's. Look at the impact guys like Ed Reed had. And since he's so good in coverage, having a top FS would allow us to blitz more. I'm not a huge fan of blitzing and prefer to just rush 4, but having a top FS definitely makes underwhelming CBs look better than they are.

He could be our 2024 version of Garrett Williams.

He could be our 2024 version of Garrett Williams. His personal pro day comes up next Monday I believe. He had different injury than Garrett and will not last that long. Pro day will be telling but he has full approval to do everything. Would be best punt returner Cards have had since PP21 rookie season. I would wager he takes one to the house next year.

I meant he would be like Williams in that we got him for an injury discount outside the first round.

Run to the podium if he is there in second.
