Minnesota this whole time has been looking to get picks and rebuild their team, they signed Darnold lol and let Cousins walk, They made a trade for a pick ,They can't get the Qb they want. They Have JJ that needs to be signed to a new contract but not having a Qb would JJ rather go somewhere else ? What if this whole time they were wanting picks and offering their weapons to start the rebuild lol. I imagine if that were their plan they had better get busy. Seems crazy to me Minnesota would trade their picks for the fourth best Qb on the board. If you are rebuilding it don't look so bad giving up good players for picks. you can rebuild and maybe the fourth pick do they take a Qb or MHJ ? You know with Darnold they have a great shot at a Qb next year as well or then it doesn't look so bad taking the 4th Qb off the board if you are rebuilding. They really could move a few weapons and get more picks for the rebuild.I have too much time on my hands lol this is my Bold prediction they are talking to get picks from Arizona using JJ.

Ok so......lets say Cards sign JJ before the draft because he wants out due the the QB situation, then trade the #4 with Vikings who've decided to rebuild thereby getting their projected QB of the future and netting us three picks the first round.....and we then go a combination of offense and defense with those three first round picks. I'll put some burgers on the grill if you'll bring the beer with this time on our hands (lol!).

Here's my 'smoke screen' option: Cardinals are hell-bent on sorting out the Defense, and following a Trade Down with Minnesota take 'three of the best for the Defense' -
#11 - Jared Verse (Edge)
#23 - Jer'Zhan Newton (DT)
#27 - Nate Wiggins (Cornerback)
We can all forget about this 'Offense matters most' malarkey...

I have to disagree with you my friend. The most important player on a team is a quarterback. Our quarterback has shown that he must be protected and he has to have somebody to throw the ball to in order to be effective at all. If the little dude had not of gotten injured last year would have been his prove it season. However since he got injured this year is his prove it season. For the Cardinals organization going forward into the future they have to find out this year whether or not Murray is the guy or not. Don't get me wrong I would love to have those three players you mentioned on the defense but I still think the most two important positions to feel on this roster are number one wide receiver and left guard. I would be fine with your scenario except I would want to draft powers from Oregon who can play guard or center as one of the top three picks. It's going to be fun this year isn't it?

BTW, I don't expect the Cardinals will go 1-2-3 on Defense (hence posted under this thread heading), but there is logic to each selection and all three positions chosen are in need of reinforcing/ upgrading. Should it transpire that at each draft point the FO take BPA available and Verse, Newton and Wiggins happen to be the top player on the Big Board, then I wouldn't be unhappy. I'm with you on Jackson Powers-Johnson, but I think it's 50/50 (at best) he will be available #23, let alone #27. - The other guy to cast your eyes on is Graham Barton, of Duke. He is highly regarded and touted to be taken at the back-end of the first round. Enjoy the draft when it comes around and I'll raise a glass to you when the ticket goes in for that Guard player (preferably high up in the rankings)!

There is a free agent veteran (turns 29 in July) who plays LG and has been tweeting that he is not "looking for the bag" but wants to play for a reasonable contract. He also tweeted (see link below) that he has missed only 4 games in the last 5 yrs so he fits the Monti/JG FA criteria that FA acquisitions cannot be injury-prone. Cardinals starting Left Guard for 2024 ?
For those interested, WF has their INTERIOR OL Review and compare players in 2024 draft vs. 2023 draft interior OL - WF Interior OL Review
IMO -- I would love to get Fauntana, Barton or Powers Johnson at #27 if possible but only if CB Arnold, Mitchell or Wiggins are not available there. Again my dream is the "Monti - 2 Step" where a trade down with Vikes coupled with the trade up to #8 or #9 while then selecting: #8 or #9 - Rome Odunze #23 - Byron Murphy Jr. #35 - Latu, Darius Robinson or Chop Robinson At #27, I think options are either: - Choose top flight CB - Arnold, Mitchell - Wiggins. Not sure how I feel about Kool-Aid currently. I still think Zinter or Dominick Puni will be available at #90 and I wonder what the coaching staff thinks of Gaines as the potential starting LG in 2024 opening day.
- Fauntana, Barton or Powers Johnson - all which have flexibility to play multiple OL positions.
- Trade back with a team like the Giants/Broncos/Raiders who didn't get a QB at top of Rd#1 but who want to jump into 1st round (5th yr option) and go get Bo Nix or Penix. Giants would need to offer 47/70 in 2024 and a 2025 2nd or 3rd rounder. Raiders can offer #44/#77 and a 2025 2nd or 3rd rounder. Broncos don't have draft picks so it would need to be #76 and Patrick Surtain.

I'm surprised it risner is still available. I wanted the Cardinals to draft him the year he came out. If they somehow could sign him as a free agent then I would honestly expect the Cardinals to compete for a playoff position next year assuming that they get a number one wide receiver who is productive in the draft and two defensive draftees who could contribute at a high level. It seems we're very quick to forget that at one point just a few years ago the Cardinals were eight wins zero losses and it looks like our offensive line could be better than what we had then. We just need Hopkins replacement. I think with Connor and Carter were in pretty good shape running back wise. Also the emergence of McBride at tight end is a very good sign as well. I guess what I'm really trying to say with this is that in my humble opinion the little dude has proven that under certain circumstances he can be awesome. A racially rewatched the Buffalo game that the Cardinals won on the hail Mary at the end of the game. There are very few quarterbacks in the league that could have made that throw. Most of them would have not been able to have even gotten any position to be able to attempt that throw.

Most of them would have not been able to have even gotten any position to be able to attempt that throw. And due credit to Hopkins, who overcame the defenders to catch it. Without his ability, a loss. Two great performances that day.
