Eagles traded him for a conditional 3rd round pick. No way in hell they would trade with us. Wonder if Monti would call the Jets and offer one of our 3 and 5. Sure we could get a solid 2 years out of him. Cross another need off draft list.

Maybe he told them he didn't want to be traded to the Cardinals? Most of the time (as in life generally) it's best not to go back. With the Reddick situation resolved, it thus helps clarify our DL needs for the draft (so look on as a positive).

It made no sense for Reddick to return to a former team. Signing a rookie DL from the Draft has much more upside than an old used DL with little game time left on his body clock. The Jets might not be the best fit for Reddick in our eyes. But our votes also do not count toward decisions. I wish Reddick well at NY. Maybe he and QB Rodgers will hit paydirt in January. EZ

JV has postulated several times in the past that Monti and staff do not trust the Eagles as there is some leftover animosity between the 2 teams. Monti will NOT do anything involving the Eagles to help them in any way.

I don't think they'd worry about any bad blood with the new regime and his former coach here. More of he doesn't fit into a rebuilding team. But in general what you say is true. Kind of like a former girlfriend.

Maybe he told them he didn't want to be traded to the Cardinals? That would be my guess. Why would he wanna come back. He thrived under Gannon and Ralis as the DC and LBs coach for Philly. Gannon knew how to employ him on the field. Vance Joseph was clueless as the Cardinal DC.

On the morning talk show (Carton show) -- he has claimed for months he knows the problems inside the Eagles which caused their swoon at year end. Now that he has been traded, he stated Reddick was at the center of the problem. Interestingly -- the reason is a familiar one to Cardinal fans as the defensive coaches wanted Reddick to cover more and not rush the passer as much !!!
Monti has clear objectives in the draft - high picks are used for PREMIUM positions because your cap is much easier to manage as you get cheap labor for 4 yrs rather than acquiring vets whom you have to pay $15M - $25M/APY. Additionally Monti (nor I) have interest in giving $15M + to FA's who are age 30 or over and especially when you also have to give up draft pick(s).

How long before we see cheap rookie contracts (minimum wage is the right term) go bye-bye? 2030? I bet a dollar that the next CBA %s will be retooled and the "low-cost rookies" will get a larger share of the CAP pie.

If they take it off the "stars" income that would be poetic justice - - - but the vets would never want to trim their piece of the pie. Greed rules, and the rookies do not get fair treatment in the present CBA... IMHO
