Bengals franchised Higgins with the hope of trading him and freeing up $21.8 million with no dead cap. They think they can get that done, instead of just letting him walk. Let’s not be the ones who help them out.

I would not be opposed to a trade with the Bengals…they have 10 picks in 2024 and the above would be a no go. DryHeat’s point about not bailing them out is legitimate. Thus a tax for being cute. Add #49 and #115 in 2024 and their 2025 2nd round pick along with the 2024 and 2025 1st round picks and Higgins. It would require the Bengals having to give extra draft picks for Higgins 2024 contract. They do not need 10 picks in 2024 and they would get the best WR in the 2024 draft. Having the best WRs on the field isn’t as important when the run game is the focal point or a very balanced attack…Harbaugh 101.

I agree. Teams that can consistently run generally wins. You wear out the defense, eat up the clock and keep your defense rested. How many times did we get beat by teams that can run. Running isn't as glamorous as a big bomb here and there, but it usually gets the job done. I'm going from memory, but I think every game we won last year was largely due to running the ball well...

What if the Vikings are ok with, say, McCarthy, Maye OR Nix? Then there would be no need to trade to #4. I’m hoping they fall in love with McCarthy. It's possible they trade up to #4 in order to get McCarthy depending on what the Patriots do at #3. If the Vikings make such a move it could possibly net MO three first round picks at #11, #23, and #27. I think that might be worth passing on MHJ.

Giving up #4 (1800 pts on trade value chart) for #11 (1250) and #23 (760) is pretty even (1800 pts for 2010 pts). But for a pick that high for a QBOF we always see a significant QB tax. We would require more for me to be happy, as there could be three other teams minimum jockeying for our pick in the Giants, Broncos and Raiders. You halve the point value of next year draft picks, so an estimated pick #20-26 next year would be valued around 380 pts. That would do it for me. #11, #23 and their 2024 1st rounder. Three later first rounders for our #4 they get their QB. Then we get #11, #23, #27 and two 1st rounders next season (ours and theirs).

The Vikings must pay a QB Tax plus an "unknown" tax to trade up and get JJ McCarthy. If I knew the Cards could get these players with four of the top 35 2024 NFL Draft picks I could get excited about a trade down wherein the Cards get #11, #23 and 2025 1st rounder (I would probably except a 2nd rounder for 2025). - #11 - Byron Murphy Jr. DT
- #23 - Brian Thomas WR LSU
- #27 - Nate Wiggins CB, Clemson
- #35 - Latu or Chop Robinson Edge
The 3 picks of the Cardinals in Rd. #3 - - Choice of WR (double up here) - Pearsall, Burton, Roman Wilson or Polk
- Choice of OL - Layden Robinson G, Dominick Puni OT/G Kansas, Cooper Beebe, Zak Zinter
- Choice of RB - Trey Benson or Jonathon Brooks
