It's right around the corner. Some good talent will be there.
Bo Nix and Penix? Way better than last year.
Anyone that you're excited about?

I’ve been so busy I totally forgot that was coming up. Has not been quite the same the last few years, but traditionally one of my favorite weeks prepping for draft. My aunt’s hotel actually hosts everyone and the event. Someday I will need to get out there for all the festivities as she can hook up all the parties.

Most recent Stock Up/Stock Down from WF today -- today's report has a lot of DL mentions with most going to Senior Bowl: Stock UP - Stock Down before Senior Bowl
Senior Bowl invitees who are juniors listed on the Nagy tweet have 2 guys who could definitely be targets for Monti at #26 or #35. Those names are Michael Hall Jr., Ohio State and Byron Murphy, Texas at DL. Newton of Illinois and Kris Jenkins of Michigan also are projected end of 1st to top half of 2nd round. My feeling on the Senior Bowl has always been that due to how many underclassmen are drafted high, I want to see utter domination by alleged 1st round talents only going up against other Seniors who've played a lot of college ball. I still remember how Aaron Donald's Senior Bowl left scouts going crazy on how dominant he was during that week of practice. I always thought SK over-drafted Senior Bowl participants (Watch link below as it mentions a former SK draft pick who was the epitome of over-drafting) as he forgot that the competition was just against Seniors many of whom were Day 3 picks. Players whom if they were uber-talented would have come out for the draft a year or two earlier. Aaron Donald dominates at 2014 Senior Bowl

Glad to see Washington's Penix accept the Senior Bowl invitation. After watching Green Bay Packers QB Love sling it from every possible unorthodox angle and foot position vs. DAL overrated defense on Sunday, Jan 14th, I want to take another look at Penix versus better defensive talent at the Senior Bowl game. He's got to show me something better than what he did vs. Michigan.
Same goes for LSU's Daniels. I want to see him take snaps and perform vs. a bunch of hard-edged dudes, not the local junior varsity talent from Georgia State. I didn't see any news about Daniels signing up for a Senior Bowl-type contest after he declared for the Draft.
"2024 NFL Draft Stock Down -- Michael Penix Jr., QB, Washington
Penix has some in the media hyping him as a first-round pick, but many NFL team evaluators are projecting him to Day 2 of the 2024 NFL Draft. The tape from the National Championship will validate the evaluation of team executives over the media. Penix missed a number of big-play opportunities against Michigan, throwing inaccurately and leaving a lot of big plays on the field due to not moving his eyes to locate wide-open receivers downfield. The National Championship game reinforces concerns about Penix’s vision, footwork, and inconsistent accuracy. In the 2024 NFL Draft, Penix could be more of a second-day pick who is a backup to start out his career but has the physical talent to develop into being a starter."

Really curious to see how he plays. PFF has him ranked below guys with inferior stats. Maybe it's a film thing...or maybe he proves them wrong.

This game is huge this year because a lot more talent than usual will play because so many of the top QBs won't be there. With this draft class lacking elite CB/DL talent, yet being deep at DL, many guys that usually wouldn't play decided to show up. Guys like:
Michael Hall - DL Ohio State Kalen King - CB Penn St (was potential top-10 pick before season started) Bo Nix and Penix
King had a poor showing against MHJ so many of these guys want to up their draft stock. The important part of this week is the coaches who are there get to see more than just talent. They can see work ethic. Almost every quality DB will be there this year which is huge for us.

www.seniorbowl.com/accepted-invites/The guys who accepted their invitations to the 2024 Senior Bowl are listed at the link. Edge Jared Verse from FSU is not on the list. I'm not surprised. He also opted out of the Orange Bowl a few weeks ago. The guys that pass on these events are avoiding risk. They all know it's about the contract now. Don't risk the biscuit.

Verse isn't near as high as he used to be. Normally, I can understand skipping the game due to injuries. I expect some this year as well. Maybe he got a contract that insured him based on his 'projected' draft slot before the season began. Because he's not projected Top 5 anymore and maybe not even top 10. Only other thing I can think of is he's aware that there's no way looking good at practice or the Bowl would move him higher because he's betting no matter how he shows, the QBs and WRs will still take the top slots. Wonder if he will run at the Combine because maybe he's also worried about a poor showing on metrics as well.

He should interview w/ Team GMs at a minimum and show that he's a team-first guy. I spoke with an ex-FSU player on Wednesday about rookie Edge Verse and WR Coleman. The former FSU player was at my home doing some service on an HVAC unit...he didn't make the big show via the NFL UFDA process. Anyway, he's a 49ers fan 100% these days and still a cheerleader for FSU footballers. He's a buyer on Verse. He said Edge Verse's motor is better than SF Edge Nick Bosa. Verse and Bosa are nearly identical physically. I asked how the ex-player rated Verse: over or below Bosa. He said it depends. Verse gets a step on Bosa going in a straight line. Bosa gets a step on Verse making cuts. Verse goes up and rushes ahead. Bosa stays low and cuts corners. Both men can blow up an OL double-team. They are that good. I asked about WR Coleman. The ex-FSU player only said Coleman will be the 2nd FSU player drafted next April 2024. Verse is FSU's #1. Coleman is #2. In that order. The rookie market for WRs is flooded next April. We know that as a fact. Not so much a flood for Edge's. I will continue keeping my eyes open for Senior Bowl entrants and Combine player news. GM Monti Ossenfort is going to clean up at the Draft this year!
