Game played out as expected. Five to ten plays that were bad and or didn’t go Cards way. Some bad mental errors on defense. Some plays that should have been turnovers for The Niners. K1 INTs and poor accuracy. All can be cleaned up.
There were times that the Cards dominated on the OL run blocking only to start calling gadget plays and end drives.
The DL is short handed, best ILB is on IR and rookies dominating the CB rotation. Budda and Thompson did not have good days.
Good news Carolina won.
I like the combo of Conner, Carter and Demarcado. Higgins is settling in and McBride is a beast.
A #1 WR is still tops in area of need.

If they do that I am ok with it because I think he is the best player in the draft. I am concerned though that the bears take him. I would take a Qb if they take him though MO needs to get his guy. If the Bears take him, then trade down for a haul. You can get WR, QB and OT/CB with the extra picks. I hope the bears screw this up don't think they will.

Sure cards need a new QB, but not now. No rush. Why waste draft capital when you can use it to build around the QB. A lot more positions in need. Plus Murray's contract sucks for the organization. Just keep him for another year or 2 until the contract is more friendly and at the same time build up other positions.

Marvin Harrison is head and shoulders the best WR in 2024 if he enters. Coleman and two or three others are a distant second level. The SC WR is rough and only one year as a starter. If Cards can get Harrison a 4-6 round pick like Wilson or Jerry Rice’s kid would be good second dip at WR. Inject some size, not to be seen, but add a larger catching radius.
OL and DL picks are definite needs and I would like to see a ILB in the 3rd round area to come in and start next to White. Payton Wilson from SC is a great leader and very productive and can even play edge at times and solid in coverage and diagnosing plays.

Building the other positions is exactly what Ossenfort has planned.
I’m in sync with that plan.

Off topic, looks like Josh Allen is rolling the Cowboys after just beating the Chiefs. Wasn't someone on the board talking about how much Allen sucked not long ago? Allen is good but today he wasn't needed to be anything more than a game manager. He threw for just 94 yards

Watching the replays on 5.
I noticed on the interceptions KM was staring the receiver down. Bad for rookie…..unforgivable for a 5 year vet

Watching the replays on 5. I noticed on the interceptions KM was staring the receiver down. Bad for rookie…..unforgivable for a 5 year vet It was also a bad play design allowing Ward to be free to play center field free of any eye candy. Better play design assists the QB in their reads. It was a bad choice on K1’s part. Not sure if K1 really needs to play in any more games this year. Too much fatigue and he will end up with another leg injury. His lower body strength or lack of what he is used to having may account for some of the air balls or lack a velocity. Not an excuse, but the reality coming off a major injury and lack of game day conditioning. Just because he wants to play doesn’t make it the best choice. Coach may need to step in and protect him for the future. Petzing has been moving his launch point on several passes and he gets clear line of sight, he still isn’t a good pocket passer and it is up to the OC to design or tweek offense to K1’s abilities. The OL is getting good and consistent at run blocking. Carter has the ability to break tackles and gain yards in congested areas. There are many areas the Cards have improved and several new players are earning a future roster spot. Lopez and Stills are two of my favorites.

They have free agency to fill some holes as well. One could say with all the extra draft capital they have this year, that this is the year to draft a QB, IF THEY LIKE ONE. The Texan’s pick might be the spot for that, although I would prefer top of second. Kyler will not play every game in 2024, mark my words. They need a top notch back up and a guy who could take over if Kyler fails. If Kyler works out and Nix is solid then trade him to a qb needy team, but I no longer would be upset if they went QB with one of their top three picks.

This would be a wise course…choose one of the six or seven year college QBs that have ability to push K1 and be able to step in and play in a game. Browning for the Bengals after being around for a bit looks decent. By getting Carter the RB position can be upgraded in 2025 draft. Kicking this position down the road and getting a #1WR, QB, OL and ILB in the first three rounds the DL can be a FA focus as well as a vet CB to play with the three rookies who are trending well.

My thoughts on to days game. While I was a little disappointed. There were some good things. Our run game, we did so much better than most teams when playing the Niners. That's a big plus. For maybe 2/3 of the game, we were in it. As the game went on, it was clear they had more weapons than we did.
We are in the process in developing stars. Trey McBride would be one of them. There are others that are showing promise.
We are building while the 49'er have already built. They have stars everywhere.
Perhaps my biggest disappointment would be KM's play. I have not given up on him yet, but even I would say his evaluation is not going well. Too many passes where it was not even close. Was it his arm accuracy or bad WR routes...I don't know, but I bet JG figures it out after reviewing the films.
The game wasn't as entertaining as I hoped for, but it was good enough to think we are on the right track.
The whole thing about the QB is easily the most difficult and unknown thing we as a team is going to have to figure out. The other stuff is almost easy.

Some fun things and also some frustrating things today. Seeing Kyler Murray mistakes again that were made 2019-2022 is disappointing.
