Who is excited about a 2-win team playing a 4-win team? Only us lonely NFC West fans. 11 games are in the books and there are 6 games to go. Nobody is tanking the season. Some might be doing 'semi-walk-throughs' to preserve healthy bodies to fight another day.
So far in 2023, the Cardinals scored 192 points and gave up a whopping 284 points (-92 difference). The Rams are doing only slightly better, scoring 195 points and giving up 220 points (-25 difference). The Rams' defense is worth 64 points over the Cardinals' defense, or giving about 1 <TD per game. If anyone is wondering about the Cardinals' defense ranking, 3 other teams have worse defenses: Bears, Giants, and Commanders. The Rams are actually about mid-pack in the NFL. So...I'm picking the Rams to win and beat the spread this weekend. It's a no-brainer.
PFR Notes for the Cardinals as of 11/20/2023:
The next Cardinals win pushes the team record to 585 wins, or .422% win percentage from 1920-2023. The next loss pushes the team record to 800 losses. The former STL Cardinals record was 186 wins, 202 losses, or .480% win percentage, for 28 years from 1960 to 1987. The ARZ Cardinals record today stands at 200 wins, or .421% win percentage, and 275 losses beginning with the relocation in 1988.
Since the team became the Arizona Cardinals beginning in 1994, the team finished 1st in the NFCW Division 3 times: 2008, 2009, and 2015. The team finished in last place (4th or 5th) 12 times. The team will most likely add to this total in 2023, making it 13 times the team finished last in the NFCW Division in 30 years!
Since becoming the Arizona Cardinals in 1994, the offense produced more points than the defense gave up in 9 years, the last year being 2021. The most successful offensive-minded HC was Bruce Arians. During his 5-year tenure, the offense outproduced the defense in 4 of 5 years. The most effective HC was Arians, whose offense produced 489 points in 2015. Arians is followed by Kingsbury who produced 449 points in 2021, and then Whisenhunt who produced 427 points in 2008. Those HC's teams all went to the playoffs those years (2008, 2015, and 2021).
Fan questions of the Week:
For what NFL year did the Cardinals win the George Halas Trophy? Answer - 2008 or 2009? Hint - the award goes to the NFC winner. For what NFL year did the Cardinals win the Ed Thorp Memorial Trophy? Answer - 1946 or 1947? Hint - the award previously went to the NFL Champion prior to the AFC/NFC merger.

So the Rams are -1 vs the Cards. This is a more winnable game. We lost last week like the pros thought that we would. This one is more of a coin flip. I hope to see the OL emphasize the run a little more this week. Lets go Cards!

I think we take another L here. Stafford will outsmart us.

I hope to see the OL emphasize the run a little more this week. Lets go Cards! You mention a coin flip game. Both teams should just go with the coin flip and not dress. Save each team some injuries. A win is meaningless, more or less. Have the Cardinals won the coin flip to start the game this year? It seems that every game starts with the Cardinals losing the coin flip and receiving the ball to start the 1st qtr. Perhaps that little device should be banned for bias. Petzing allowed Murray to take 89.2% snaps in under center last week...6 total. He passed 3 times and handed off to Connor and Brown 3 times. I wonder if that number will be mid-90s this week? Or 100%? Would the result change? Last year, Murray had a game where he took just 2 snaps under Center. So we know he's terrified when at the LOS, or having his hands in the Center's butt crotch.

I think we take another L here. Stafford will outsmart us. McVay and Stafford will outsmart Gannon and Murray/Tune. The last game was close, Cards 9 and Ram 6, until the halftime. Then one team made adjustments and came out of the locker room with guns blazing. The Rams robbed the Cardinals for 20 more points while the Cardinals pockets were emptied in the last 30 minutes. Final, 26-9, in a laugher going away for McVay and Stafford.

We need two things here. To see K1 in action for the rest of the year and to see if Petzing can grow as an OC. Let's get our RBs out there and establish the PA. I need to see if K1 gets his elite deep ball back...or if he continues to throw some ducks. I know that it's real popular to hate on K1 in his 2nd game back from a significant injury, but there HAS to be some rust there. Let's give the guy a chance to get his rhythm back. We also need to see if he still has it period. No need to get the pitchforks this early...
