Anyone live there? Just researching possible places to move in a few years. Its rated as a great state to live in, but I never met anyone that was actually from there. Sins, I lived in Omaha NE for 2 years, from 2005-2007. I rented a condo on the southwest side of town. A US Govt job took me to HQ USSTRATCOM at Offutt AFB. The locals raved about Lincoln, NE. I traveled to Lincoln and didn't see a big difference between the two NE cities. The University of Nebraska and Creighton University are very good schools. The outdoorsmen loved NE for hunting and adventure. NE likes: Schools, businesses, people, open spaces, and super clean in most areas. From eastern NE, you can get to almost anywhere in the lower 48 states in 1.5 days steady driving. The Omaha airport was new and big. The airport was open on the most wintery days. I did a lot of flying back and forth to Washington, DC. If you like shopping, the options are downtown Omaha, big malls, and the usual big box stores. Or, use Amazon online! OBTW, my condo association had an indoor HEATED swimming pool. I loved going for a swim and watching the snow falling outside. My condo garage also was heated. NE Dislikes: Tornadoes! Spring comes late and fall comes early. Summer is hot. Winter is cold. When the snow comes, it's a lot, and it sticks around. I did not like seeing snowflakes from Oct-Apr. The local NFL football team is the KC Chiefs only--this was before Sunday Ticket, streaming, etc. EZ
