Classic stuff.....really miss this! MG85, thanks! That's best Cardinals QB-to-WR film on the planet. Like you, I grew up with that undrafted QB Jim Hart from SIU. Somehow, he survived the lean years with the Cardinals. To this day, he's my #1 Cardinals QB. Q: Who are the Cardinals wide receivers in the Hall of Fame? A: None. Someday, Larry Fitzgerald will break the long drought.

Meanwhile I truly believe that the Coryell years was the best chance for the Cardinals to win a SB and establishing a winning culture.....but that it was the dollar choking Bill Bidwill who blew it. Having created one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL, all Coryell needed was improvement on the defensive side of the ball to match that level of performance by his offense. I can remember an interview on local talk radio with then Cardinal center Tom Banks when he alleged that Bidwill was overheard complaining "I'll have to pay these guys if they keep winning like this". This was the type of stuff that came out when the team had grown unhappy on the heels of Coryell's exit and things had fell apart. Drafting a QB number one when Jim Hart was lighting it up made the Cardinals look like a joke. Coryell had to be beyond dismayed. And hiring a washed up former college coach in Bud Wilkerson following Coryell's exit has to be one of the most pathetic moves by an owner given the tract that Coryell had this team on. A real blown opportunity involving the best head coach this team has ever known.

Ets'd from active duty in late August 75 so got to watch them on TV from hometown in Mo.. Wife was still overseas finishing up her tour. I went back to work at the Chrysler Truck plant in Fenton Mo Oct of 75. We did get to see 1 game at Busch Stadium, Cards hosted the Packers. Bakken kicked 5 FGs and the Card's O scored 2 TDs for an easy win that cold windy day. Last minute decision so the only seats we got were at the very top of the stadium. Only 1 other fan up there with us. He shared his binoculars. lol

It may have even been the same year but not the same game. I too once sat in the nosebleed section on a cold and windy day. It was brutal.....lol. We dressed for it but what we wore was no match for the wind and cold. Also, I saw your post in the most affordable thread. What a difference it was back then compared to the cost today. That game cost for me and my girlfriend was about 40 dollars for everything...tickets, parking and even gas to get there. I don't know what refreshments cost back then, but during that game, the only thing I might have bought was a cup of coffee or a hot chocolate.....a cold beer would be out of the question.....lol

Did you all know that QB Jim Hart was not drafted in 1966? He was a UDFA and invited to camp for a tryout. He was signed afterward. For all the bragging I do about Jim Hart, he is among the worst Cardinals QBs regarding TD-to-INT ratios. Out of 18 years with the Cardinals franchise, his TDs exceeded his INTs in only 4 of those 18 years. One year, he threw 30 INTs. 87-88-5 is his career win/loss record. His highest full-season QB rating was 82.0, about average for the modern era. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Hart_(American_football)#:~:text=Hart%20received%20a%20football%20scholarship,and%20was%20signed%20soon%20after. New QBs always struggle. QB Bryce Young (#1 pick 2023) now with the Carolina Panthers is stuck with a rating of about 33.0 in early 2024. He needs a better OL and WRs. sports.yahoo.com/32-nfl-quarterbacks-including-lamar-171912958.html
