It's all about how a prospect projects in the NFL. Lot of little guys can dominate college football but they don't always find that level of success in the NFL. Caleb has the attributes that NFL scouts drool over. Doesn't mean he's a lock to dominate the NFL but the odds are he will if he keeps going the way he is. And all these guys want that number #1 overall status. He'd gladly play for the Cardinals. Name the last USC QB to win a Super Bowl or even be elite in the NFL? That is just such an absurd way to rate/judge a player. Texas Tech has a history of cranking out Super Bowl champs right? Chiefs are idiots for taking Mahomes when no qb has done anything from there.

Name the last USC QB to win a Super Bowl or even be elite in the NFL? It's a valid point and I brought that up multiple times with Matt Leinart. Bunch of overrated losers. But it's limited thinking to eliminate a possible elite QB based on that assumption. You have to do your homework. Times change. Agreed on all fronts. My point is that K1 is a top 10 QB in the NFL and we should be looking at how to improve the team at other positions. This obsession with replacing a QB due to people not liking how he got a new contract and that he had a bad playoff game is ridiculous (not saying that is you because i know its not). He has had way more success than failure since being in the league compared many QBs at this point in his career. I want to see what K1 can do with a real coach just like Trevor Lawrence got.

The PAC 12 is a weak defensive conference that has at best two good football schools. The rest are punching Judy’s who couldn’t compete in most conferences. UCLA and USC are moving to the Big 10 watch how they get smacked around when they do. UCLA especially is a pretender.

Oh, so Williams sucked at Oklahoma and only did well at USC I guess. Must be the case, otherwise that argument doesn’t really work.

I think this is entirely sensible; I have a hope & expectation (subject to a good recovery from injury) that KM can be a force in the NFL and I would also like for us to spend our draft capital at other non-QB premium positions. It would seem that Gannon has confidence in Murray, so this is the track the team is currently on. I would give KM two years and if his performances were not good enough (for his salary award) then we move on. Baring in mind that he may see limited action in 2023 and also his salary is such that we couldn't easily jettison him even should we wish.

There are some clear red flags with KM that concerned me. I was very excited with his trajectory in the beginning. But it's clear he had a decline, particularly post contract. And the whole process with the homework clause was eye opening. His attitude was very concerning. It wasn't just one bad playoff game. And you're right he's had more success than failure. I just don't like that it was in the beginning and the progress seemed halted. Now can a 25 year old guy turn things around? Yea of course. Maybe the ACL will humble him. Maybe as you say the coaching change will motivate him. His speedy little video game style has to change though. He needs to mature and become a studied QB like the rest of the greats. The evidence will be presented shortly.

Perhaps the 3-win 2022 season and the December ACL tear were the basement floors for KM mentally and physically. We all know that KM can do better QB'ing than what we've seen lately, especially since that stupidly QB'ed Green Bay Packers showing at Game 8, 2021. We want more of those Cards/Raiders-type games from 2022. I think KM has already shown us that he's on top of the physical game when he's healthy. The mental game begins late this season and the next off-season. KM's got a lot of work to do to again impress the football people around him.
