I mentioned on another thread how JV on PHNX Podcast mentioned all of Monti’s draft picks are being given ample opportunity to make the roster Tune included. From their observations, Tune is getting more reps than Blough and Driskle.
Tune is big and runs a 4.59 forty and has a cannon and very confident and had lots of college snaps and starts. If he has a great training camp and does good in pre-season games he will be a lock at QB2 behind Colt in 2023 and Colt has a habit of getting injured so Tune is in a great position to get his chance in 2023.

Since the draft, I have reports contrary to Tune having a cannon for an arm Here is a draft network: Scouting report thedraftnetwork.com/sr-prospect/clayton-tune-07372ba8-1bbe-4f39-940a-6228c6988934/www.profootballnetwork.com/clayton-tune-qb-houston-nfl-draft-scouting-report-2023/PFN : QUOTE from above article "Doesn’t have the arm strength to consistently drive downfield"

The first link said lacked arm strength and the second had this comment:”Flashes above-average arm strength and creation capacity” JV made a statement that he tries to put too much touch on some passes and JG must have been expecting what the scouting report said on lack of arm strength when he noticed him having the zip or power to fit ball in small window with confidence. Is his throwing with creation capacity a result of taking some off for touch purposes? Wether it is a cannon or above average with creation capacity is in the eyes of the beer holder. LOL

LOL Link: About 50 seconds to one minute in he is sliding to his left in the pocket and feet are not set and throws down the middle about 50-60 yards on a rope. I think he has arm strength, but like JV said he likes to put touch on many passes. In the NFL he may want more zip on the ball. That is probably what the one article you left links for talks about creativity or creation capacity in throwing. Many of his senior highlights show many arcing throws, but there are a few in the 45-60 yard in the air throws with a slight arc to give the WR a nice ball that they catch in stride and it takes above average arm strength to throw those balls. Just because he takes some off on many throws, doesn’t mean he lacks arm strength as the one scouting report mentioned. I like the film over the scouting report.

The most impressive throw in the video you provided was vs Texas Tech. I was impressed that even though he could not step into the throw he was able to get it deep down field to the receiver. That shows arm strength to me. He is standing straight up on that throw. I had watch this video before. Do you think the analysts are looking at the length of a drive and being able to consistently go down field? As in all game long? More of endurance over the game?

I agree, not many plays of ultimate arm strength, but the few when needed he delivered. What was impressive was the ball placement and spin, the ball was placed in the basket and WRs kept in stride. The couple of runs were a good showcase of his athletic ability, speed and bounced off a couple tackles. No ducks or wobblers. Scouting for public consumption is terrible. Many times doesn’t match the tape or such a limited scope there is no actual context. Even PFF that I use as a reference many times is a joke on many levels, it is more who they like get favorable ratings, can’t take a Cris Collingsworth business seriously.LOL

The U-tube video of CT's highlights shows: - BALL PLACEMENT -- End Zone fade throws, Deep "drop into bucket" sideline throws & very accurate deep post throws hitting his WR in stride sometimes even when the wideout was double-covered.
- MOBILITY - his 4.6 speed shows up on film running away from opponent's corners. Also had some very good throws while on the run.
- Spin Rate - Ball Speed: I believe it was reported CT's throws had the best velocity of any QB's at the Senior Bowl.

Mvp? The pumter is more likely going to be the most valuable player on this year's Cardinals

A lot NFL starters don't have cannons for arms. Give me accuracy every day of the week that ends in 'Y'. Give me a QB who will shift to one side of the pocket given him, to look for that late breaking route which might be a a huge play. Give me a guy who can think on his feet while the pocket is starting to collapse.
I'm excited for this draft class and for training camp. Looking forward to seeing Tune in live game action.

I am very curious to see him play, and if he’s mentally ready would like to see him start the season. The other guys are barely backup material “known knowns”. We have the luxury of experimenting with our unknowns, our young guys, this year. Let’s give them some time and see what happens.

My thoughts exactly...there is everything to gain, but very little too loose. We either hit a home run or we get a very high draft choice.....

As the most important thing is what you make up in height or depth is you make up for in guts and daring plays that you can only hope helps to your advantage!
