That is a really cool video both visually and otherwise....a bird's eye view from the pilot's perspective doing things that are not normally done....well in peace time anyway.
I also got a big kick out of it when his F-16 kept warning him about his altitude....lol.
Even though it was part of an airshow. I'm surprised they let him fly that low over a major city. Not because it was dangerous, but because if there were any daytime sleepers, they certainly got woke up.
About 10 years ago, I was driving down a street in my hometown. It was a pleasant summer day, and I had my windows down. All of a sudden, I heard this terrible loud sound like I have never heard before. It was so loud, I almost panicked. It was so surprising/unusual, I thought maybe tanker carrier was crashing and exploding behind me. I couldn't make sense of it.
Then I caught a glimpse of a F-16 flying maybe 500 feet off the ground. Thats estimated but it was low enough to almost see the pilot.
I'm pretty sure it was from the Air Guard in Springfield Il 30 miles to the east of my town.
183rd WingI'm only guessing here, but I doubt he had any authorization to fly that low over my fair town of Jacksonville. Don't get me wrong. Yes, it momentarily scared the hell out of me, but it was thrilling at the same time.
To this day, I have no idea if it was authorized, or a rogue pilot pulling a stunt. Even though it was the talk of the town, there was never any official news about the incident.
