First lets deal with the problem
then my reasoning with solutions.
1. The problem is Steve Keim cannot draft well to save his life.
I have posted his draft record over the years and it is
worst than imagineable. He is terrible at it. has no gift for it
no clue, no mindset, and everything else that can be thought of.
The guy is too smug for his own good.
Here I will prove my points and what I would do to move forward.
Question #! & #2 for you What position is the safest/ morelikely
to succeed in the NFL? 2nd Question Which Most All Pros versus drafted in the 1st round
I have researched links to gain evidence. They are listed below.
Keim's 1st round record.
All Pros since 2013 Kyler Murray and D.J. Humphries
QB and OT are the two successful positions.
Answer #1 Linebacker
Keim's record 2 winners 6 busts
( exception for Hasson Reddick ) but he
plays for another team so he is a bust in AZ.
Now look at the chart Linebacker is the least risky position
There is a 26.4% success rate for becoming an all pro at linebacker.
if drafted in the 1st round.
Keim has drafted 4 true linebcackers since the 2013 season
Zaven Collins, Isaiah Simmons, Evan Weaver and Kevin Minter
All are busts so far.
So even if I use all the linebackers Keim fails at drafting the most likey to
succeed position.
What works for Keim?
Solution Draft Its a joke look at the link below
Solutions/ 2nd worst Not free agency For every James Conner
I will give you a Terrell Suggs, JJ Watt, < yes worst year of his career
Jordan Phillips, Robert Alford, Devon Kennard and so on.
middle: Trading down for more picks No this one either. Fr evefry Budda Baker
you have a Rodney Gunter you traded up for.
What has worked for Keim: Draft picks for players
Rodney Hudson. Carson Palmer, Chandler Jones There
are others with a few busts.
, Many of his trades are late round picks for short term solutions.
I want longer term solutions to problems.
The 2021 season taught me one thing, You have to have depth and not just a few stars
to make it to the playoffs. Steve Keim should look to make trades like the Chandler Jones trade
back in 2016. But try it in reverse Robert Cooper and a 2nd round pick were in that trade for Jones.
My goal would be to build depth this way. Trade top picks for a good starter
and another lower draft pick for our higher pick.
Example make a trade with a willing partner
pick up a starting guard a good one and a later round pick
3rd or 4th round pick. If they give you a 2nd run to the podium,
The idea is not to accumulate picks but to increase
the quality of your depth. THIS STRATEGY ALLOWS FOR THAT
You build depth at lower costs and get two or more players for
one player/and/or draft pick traded away
