arizonasports.com/story/3546570/ex-cardinals-gm-steve-keim-happier-rehab/Anxiety, Ambien and Xanax addiction, divorce, rehab…those last few years were worse than we realized. Bidwill treated him well, but IMO was too much the friend and too little the boss after the DUI. You can leave a billion dollar business in the hands of a guy in that sort of mental and physical shape.

Too bad SK did, could or would not. And it's odd Mike didn't see that much sooner.

His drug addiction had nothing to do with him being a bad GM. That was his own incompetence and bad decision making. He was an unorthodox manager and that philosophy eventually hurt the Cardinals.
Mike Bidwill was being more loyal to his friend than the welfare of his team. At the very least, Mike should have fired Keim when he fired Steve Wilks. It was inexcusable to fire Wilks and keep the man who hired him. Keim had the hurt team years before that moment.

All he needed was his bottle of JD and the latest copy of Street and Smith football magazine

First, I was going to tease Dry Heat for posting a Keim thread the day before the draft. LOL That is like his Houston we hope you suck trade thread. LOL
What is sad is that we only as outsiders knew there was this big problem with him. This was going on for some time not just the last season he was with the team.
I find it interesting in this sugar coated interview. He said he took Ambien and Xanax or both before he went to bed to get sleep. He said " He woke up the next morning still feeling in pain that didn't go away.
It doesn't say in the article what he did in the morning I wont speculate or guess but I don't think it was good.
When I was 8 years old in 1964. I was in a serious bike accident. I was in the hospital over a month. I became a little drug addict begging the nurses over and over for a shot of morphine. That pain was worse than any pain I have had in my life, including my cancer pain now. It was intractable pain.
That is why I have a high tolerance for pain these days. but cardinalsins told me not to be a hero and tough things out. I respect his opinion. He knows his stuff.
As far as running the team, Dr Jekyl was left in charge which should have never happened.

I hope Keim is on a better path personally. The older I get, the more Grace I give to people and the issues they’ve had behind the public persona. I agree Bidwill should have moved on from Keim as soon as these issues surfaced, beginning at least with the DUI.

Right behind the inebriated drivers are the people using handheld telephones and driving. Cause a death? Go straight to jail for 20 years minimum. Cause 2 or more deaths? It's a life sentence! No plea bargaining, no parole, no weekends off, no work from home!

I'm glad to see no one on here have made mistakes in their life...Perfect! I have made my fair share that is for sure. If he gets his life turned around that will be the greatest thing. Its just sad to go from NFL executive of the year in I think it was 2014 to where he is today, It is a tragic story. We should want the best for him. But he has to do his part.
