Hmmmm, that's interesting. Picks 2 and 4...QB and MHJ. Not sure I want to trade Kyler, but Maye would be a good replacement

Washington gives up their first round pick number two this year and their second round pick next year for Drum roll please... Kyler Murray Thoughts on this? Great if we didn’t have to pay him. But we would. These trade ideas never lay out the financial costs. We’d be largely paying for Washington and fully our own QB1’s.

Great if we didn’t have to pay him. But we would. I don't even try to understand all the financial implications for such deals, BUT - check out OTC for Murray. It shows dead money and cap savings for a post June 1 tradeas $10,718,177 and $38,400,000 respectively. Would that not be a trade, technically? Does that make sense? Does it assume the trade partner would pick up the balance of KM's contract? If so, then just maybe that rumor could make sense.

To be honest here…even if a trade were financially feasible…which it’s not…I personally think that the relationship btw KK and KM is over…I don’t think KK did anything to really enhance and develop the career of KM…other then perhaps advocating for the Cardinals to draft him number 1 overall…and I think KM down deep knows that…and would not want anything to do with KK a 2nd time around…IMO.

Washington gives up their first round pick number two this year and their second round pick next year for Drum roll please... Kyler Murray Thoughts on this? This is definitely doable if the cardinals have a Qb they desire at the 2nd pick and as they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What a team would pay for KM is a plus considering what they will be going for soon. Yes it definitely could happen All depends on how much Washington likes him and if there is a guy the Cardinals like more then KM. Seriously though thinking everything over Giants are not gonna trade with us they know niether the cardinals nor chragers are gonna draft Qb and as I said Minnesota is not gonna give up much for the fourth Qb off the board. The only one I can see possibly is Denver and it would take a spcial player because they don't have the picks. The cardinals trading back just is not very likely I think trading back is dang near dead in the water. Cardinals are gonna stay at 4 and draft a player they want in my opinion.

I think this is either going to be the wildest draft we've had in decades or the boringest. Common sense for dictate that giving up three first round picks to pick a quarterback is a high risk high reward situation but it seems like almost none of these quarterbacks pan out when the drafting team gives up the farm for them. Minnesota might actually going to the season with Donald as their quarterback. The broncos are the team that's absolutely desperate. The Giants can struggle on with Jones instead of giving up the farm but denver, they're in trouble. They don't have a quarterback on the roster I don't think that's ever started NFL game.

Let's look at that KM contract costs again, and the going rate for a new contract for a veteran starting QB. $50M a year is the new benchmark for a top 5 QB--which Murray isn't! Murray's contract is comparatively cheap for the Cardinals and a trade suitor in 2024 and 2025. If some other team really wants Murray--which I frankly don't see happening--, then the finances can be worked out so that Cardinals don't have to pay Murray to play for another team (aka DEN and QB Wilson at PIT). I shudder to think about starting over again with a rookie QB. Of the top 3 QBs this Draft, I like all three more than rookie QB Murray in 2019. But if we're going to do it--draft a rookie QB and start over, now is the time. Rebuilding is ongoing since 2023 and likely though 2025. Washington is not going to pony up extra picks and eat the cost of a veteran QB at the same time. That's nonsensical for a team trying to get on its feet. Washington is in a great spot to grab Daniels or Maye and I think they will do well with either QB. I predict: Williams goes to CHI. Maye goes to WAS. Daniels goes to NE. McCarthy goes to NYG. Murray plays for Gannon in 2024.

Can you get specific on how the finances can be worked out where we aren't in effect paying a massive proportion of his salary while he plays for someone else, if traded? His bonus already kicked in for this season and we've paid that. The dead cap is still $40 million whether taken in one hit or kicked down the road.

Thanks, Dry.
To me this indicates a trade is not out of the question at all, but it does limit the teams which could be involved. Since that article Cousins has left the
Vikings, so they are a definite possibility, along with a couple of other teams. The financial aspect seems less than a stopper to any deal, now.

The dead cap is still $40 million whether taken in one hit or kicked down the road. But offset by a cheap(er) rookie QB cost for X years? This assuming the other team takes on his contract for later years, or reworks it. The traded picks would likely be fewer and/or lower, too. I can't wait for the draft to see what happens.

His bonus already kicked in for this season and we've paid that. The dead cap is still $40 million whether taken in one hit or kicked down the road. Get specific? Sorry, I cannot. Are you imagining amortizing the contract in its entirety? If so, consider inflation and payroll taxes as well. MB stroked the bonus check. That's a sunk cost. The money is spent, like an alimony payment. Write off that cost. If Murray dies tomorrow, that MB bonus payment is still a sunk cost. I'm talking about the QB's future pay, post-trade only. PIT agreed to take Wilson off DEN's hands if DEN paid 95% of the man's future salary. PIT did not have to repay DEN for Wilson's sunk costs. Nor would a new team have to repay MB. If we drag into the discussion Murray's CAP, loans made, draft picks imagined values, repayment for hotdogs eaten at SFS, etc, no one can ever get to "yes" on a trade. My point was that Murray is cheap to keep. Signing another veteran would be ridiculously expensive. I am not advocating a Murray trade in 2024. I said long ago that this season is a prove-it season for Murray. Every season is prove-it, but he is less expensive to keep in 2025.

I agree. Only I would expand it to KK saying hell no to another go 'round w/K1. Making the feeling mutual. Pretty sure KK remembers the disrespect and every game Murray was out.
