Welcome to the Official Game Day Thread
Announcers: Kevin Kugler (play-by-play), Mark Sanchez (analyst) and Laura Okmin (reporter)
Vegas Odds and Ends: Rams (-4.5); Total: 51.5 Points
History: Rams lead 47–39–2
Rams vs Cardinals This Year: NFL (PFF)
Offense: Rams = 26th (67.3), Cardinals = 16th (67.9)
Defense: Rams = 19th (73.6), Cardinals = 11th (45.3)
Passing: Rams = 15th (63.7), Cardinals = 16th (67.3)
Rushing: Rams = 31st (57.1), Cardinals = 11th (83.8)
Since 2017, the Rams are 10-1 against the Cardinals, have outscored them 335-162 and won 5 of those games by 20+ points (https://theramswire.usatoday.com/lists/rams-cardinals-week-3-preview-stats-facts). Its been abysmal. No one is going to forget last year's playoff loss to the Rams. In short, it was embarrassing and disheartening, leading to a ridiculous amount of shade being thrown at this team in the offseason. Per PFF, where the Rams are significantly better than the Cards is in their Defense. Their defensive grade is a 73.6, and they have a run defense grade of 79.7, a pass rush grade of 76.8 and a pass defense grade of 58.1. The grades for the Cardinals are 45.3, 54.9, 61.9 and 36.9 respectively. Offensively, we're slightly better in most categories with a distinct advantage in rushing. An interesting stat is that Stafford tied for the lead with regard to interceptions last year @ 17. He has already thrown 5 this year through two games. Can the Cardinals capitalize? I mean, we know where the ball is going, and its definitely going to Kupp. With regard to home games, more bad news:
With regard to the NFC West, we are currently projected to come in at 3rd:
Here's what the NFL.com experts are predicting:
Key to victory: Can Byron Murphy contain Kupp? He did a great job against Devante Adams who is arguably one of the best WRs in the game. Do the Cardinals play a solid 4 quarters of football? We'll have to see!

Couple thoughts: (1) projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2022-nfl-predictions/?ex_cid=rrpromoRegarding the projection for the 49ers to win the NFCW with a 10-7 record, that idea got a tiny boost when Lance unfortunately suffered an ankle break and is out for the year and Garopollo replaced the former as the QB starter. We all know Garopollo is probably more fragile than Lance. Notable also was that the 49ers were projected NFCW winners prior to Lance's IR status. How so? Who is 538? I did some checking into the site 'fivethirtyeight.' The research, statistics, and contemporary news company is owned by Disney Corp. Their website is neither hard Right or hard Left and fact-telling seems comprehensive. Back to the NFL. While perusing the 32-team projections, -- see the link above -- I noted a discrepancy between the 538's own stats and the Twitter projection by the reporter. The Cardinals are actually forecast in the high 30 percentile, not the teens, to win the NFCW. Is the reporter cooking the books? His thumb on the scale and favoring the 49ers? (2) Murphy had a lot less trouble covering Adams because Carr and the Raiders offense was mostly riding the pine in the second half of last week's game. The best way for Murphy to cover Kupp is for the Cardinals defense to keep Stafford and Kupp off the field. If the Cardinals defense cannot do that, game over. Thanks for posting a draft GDT! Nice work as always, fellas.

I’m hoping that the cluster injuries the Rams have in their secondary and the weakness that their O-Line has demonstrated in the first (2) weeks can somehow be exploited by the Cards to overcome the obvious advantage the Rams have had with Kupp’s various crossing routes, TE receptions over the years and McVay’s strangle hold on anything that involves coaching against KK. For us…somehow they are a tough team to beat…but if we don’t start establishing some type of home field advantage against division foes…it really won’t matter when we get DHOP back and/or when we get completely healthy. Go Cards!!!

Anyone know what jerseys Cards are wearing Sunday? Here is what the Rams are wearing Sunday. So based on that the Cardinals will probably be wearing red.
Two reasons they have worn black already this season RED SHOULD ALWAYS BE THE CHOICE AT HOME

Anyone know what jerseys Cards are wearing Sunday? I hope it's not the black jersey with white numbers. The uniform worn for the Raiders game should be worn until it smells so bad that no one can stand it.
