One of the most exciting games I've seen the Cardinals play, or should I say exciting half of football.
For the first 6 quarters of the season the Cardinals were easily the worst team in Football. Does this second half erase that? Sure it does to a degree.
Loved having Greg Gumble and Adam Archuletta. Two weeks in a row of a elite crew covering the game. Thank god we didnt stink twice in a row. Maybe now they dont go back to Gus Johnson/ Talib.
Kyler Murray is a human video game at times. I'd like to see him more mechanical with a swish of athleticism though. Still he is the only reason we had a chance to win. He has elite abilities.
Chandler Jones is an over the hill fading player. I've said it now for a while and he proved it yesterday. His book end, Crosby , is the star , and CJ still looked average at best.
We got two snaps out of our recent draft class yesterday. Let that sink in.
Marquis "skid row" Brown is not really impressing me. Why was his body contorting in so many different directions on the pass he caught and dropped that almost cost us the game?
I thought JJ Watt played a decent game, played in 62% of snaps, and he didn't get hurt.
Still no Andy Isabella. LOL. But Dortch has been impressive.
AJ Green is such a bum.
I've never seen a bigger group of degenerates then Raider fans. Just cringe worthy when they pan the crowd.
Notice the production out of Daryl Williams and Benjamin? Both hungry backs. Notice the guy on the sideline with the "ankle injury"? Yea that's why I sound like a broken record when I say dont sign running backs to multi year contracts. Before the injury James was running at a clip of 3 yards per carry. Pulling the David Johnson act.
6 linebackers played more snaps than Simmons yesterday. One big play doesn't make up for his abysmal season so far.
KK sure looked like a relieved man after the game. Cant imagine he really thought we could win this game at halftime. Still a team that looks largely disorganized and undisciplined.
I could not understand the stupidity of the Raiders in overtime. Josh McDaniels will be lit up and Derrick Carr looked like he suffered a deer in the headlights moment. Contrast that will the cool and calm Kyler Murray under pressure.
They won the coin toss and forced two fumbles on two consecutive plays. Tell me we weren't destined to win?
Would it be fair to say Vance did a nice job with second half adjustments? Wasn't this his MO last season? (yes).
Will this game silence some of Kyler's critics when it comes to leadership? Maybe not but man that was impressive. Every big time QB has a great comeback like that.
Zaven Collins played in 100 % of the snaps. I guess that's promising. (8 total tackles).
I thought the Oline has held up real well after two games.
We simply dont have a guy who can put pressure on the QB. Hello Marcus Golden.

Pulling the David Johnson act. Totally agree with this. These guys were running with Juice. I would like to see Williams get more touches, but it was pretty evident that he was lost at times (he was constantly asking Kyler what to do). Still, let the back-ups get more practice time and let Connor heal up. No need to rush him back when we carry so many decent RBs on this roster. Please get McBride some more snaps too. The dude runs a 4.5 and is athletic as heck. He's faster than Tweezy, and has the frame to break a tackle or two. He's used to carrying an offense since he WAS the offense for Colorado, let the young man shine. This team and self scouting though....

Thanks Aris. CJ is old and has a hard time playing fast enough for the NFL. I am waiting for Sanders to shine in that department. I hold out for more from Connor, he is a fighter, he isn’t a coaster. Nothing in his football career says he holds back. I like Green although he is getting harder to rely on although at least he is available and made a hell of a catch along with the poor foot placement and drops.
Golden and Gardeck are not the future, but are available the kid from Duke who I can’t spell his name and Sanders look to be a great pair of OLBs. Cam Thomas is a DE with better pass rush ability than Allen. Some good youth that need to step up. Nice to have depth at OLB. No one has been impressive rushing QB yet…JJ is best pass rusher so far. Pass rush by over the hill gang so far.
1-1 is a good start. Rams are up and have their own issues. Once again a QB who plays well against the blitz. Hope VJ keeps things simple again the CBs are not good enough to be left on islands. Hope defense plays fast and hits hard…the turnovers are game changers and Collins is becoming a better hitter and Simmons is a proven bully and big hitter.

Solution to Pass Rush: Have Simmons line up at LB and play a "loop around" stunt with one of the DL to have 6'4 1/2" 82" Wingspan get a free run up the middle at Stafford. From the Steelersdepot site -- see bottom video and picture Simmons in place of #55 - LB up Middle Blitz - StuntAs the video shows use of your fastest LB with a free rush on the QB -- remember also the Rams OL has undergone a lot of change in the last 2 seasons and might have trouble picking this one up. Some new blitz packages not used before will catch the Rams unaware AND Stafford has been known to hurry a throw causing an INT. I am certain this can work especially with JJ Watt playing as he commands double-teams. 49ers used to have Derek Wolfe slant like this (of course many OL accused him of then holding the guard to prevent recovering back to middle) and then run Navarro Bowman or Patrick Willis up the middle. They used it often and it worked A LOT !!!

If you aren’t going to play him, wouldn’t we all prefer he is at OLB over Kennard?! He has shown he has pass rush skills and might as well get something out of him.

It worked for getting rid of Brown.

The problem is Simmons is still on VJ's vendetta list for speaking out publicly when he was made
"starback" and given calling defense relaying responsibility with little to no experience. I put the
onus for that failure on Joseph as much or more than Simmons.
It seems VJ wants to categorize players based on what he wants, not what they are best able to accomplish. If they don't impress immediately, they are benched. What a motivation buster. Is anyone on our coaching staff capable of teaching rookies/newbies?
I agree that Simmons might best be used now as a pass rusher, and then moved in position
if necessary later - and hope that he is not another guy branded a failure only to go to another team and shine. We have had enough of that from this group of D coaches.

My 2 cents:
The Cardinals defense was awful vs. Stafford and the Rams offense in the 1st quarter yesterday. Same for the KC and LVR games in the first 15 minutes. All 3 teams jumped on the Cardinals right out of the gate. How can 3 different teams HC's have the winning solutions vs. the Cardinals before the opening kickoffs and why cannot the Cardinals HC stop his team errors and bad decisions? KC, LVR and LAR all feasted on Cardinals field management and players errors. The opposition feasting is intentional, scripted, and unstoppable. This is a game of strength versus strength, brains versus brains, and some luck. The Cardinals are holding their own in the luck category only. Otherwise, the got their butts and brains kicked 3 weeks in a row. The beatings will continue until Kingsbury makes a HUGE change.
The Cardinals defense got just 1 sack (Watt's 2nd of the year and team's 2nd sack of the year) and caused no INTs on Sunday. Stafford was an INT machine in games 1-2. Then versus the Cardinals, he becomes GOAT material and is rarely flustered. Mahomes and Carr carved up the Cardinals defense with ease at games 1-2. What is likely to change on the Cardinals by October 2nd? Not much. It is not fun watching and listening to this Cardinals team struggle again and again. There is so much potential being wasted.

The way I wrote my part made it sound like I can see Simmons in that role all the time. He's too light but look at what Ramsey did yesterday. That would be great.

Simmons needs more work. He's got the athleticism. Maybe Simmons can rise to the occasion someday. He will never be 'great' if he does not play and learn.

The bench is no teacher, more a frustration generator when used to "teach".
Of course if the teacher is incapable, nothing improves in or out of the game.

What I love about the NFL is the best players generally play. Maybe Simmons isnt that good and they see it on the practice field. After all it's Keim doing the drafting and his history is abysmal.

Could be, but since Simmons was great while in college and generally looked upon as a desirable draftee,
I tend to think he needs transitional help which he evidently is not getting. We have seen that before with others who are judged as hopeless but show otherwise when on different teams. There are always exceptions, so I won't say it is all a coaching problem while here... only 90%.
Some guys are slow learners, others adjust quickly. Some learn by themselves, others can't. Strong, capable coaches make diamonds from coal; weak coaches make ashes.
I also agree that the Cardinals choice of personnel not been stellar... and why.
