This is why you can never predict the NFL season. We are 4 weeks in and the 49ers may be moving into a QB controversy along with an injured vet, and Seattle may be starting Geno Smith for the foreseeable future. Never thought we could be three games up on 2 division rivals by the end of week 5, but it’s very possible. Things are going as well as they could be for us.
But one injury to Murray and everything changes.

RW could be out 4 to 8 weeks per ESPN. Wow, two of the QBs for teams in the toughest NFL division are suddenly on bed rest. Scheduled teams are licking their chops at the prospect of taking on Lance and Smith versus Garoppolo and Wilson for the next month. I guess it's up to Murray and Stafford to carry the NFC West Division load the rest of the way. LOL!

I think that he'll be out 17 weeks next year...at least for Seattle.

The pick they traded away for Jamal Adams was expected to be a low first round pick. Depending on how long he is out, this could turn into a top 10 pick, which has all their fans down, especially if they end up losing him

Depending on how long he is out, this could turn into a top 10 pick, which has all their fans down, especially if they end up losing him Seattle doesn't finish the season with a <.500 record often. 2021 may be one of those years when a bunch of bad things line up. Wilson is going to be okay, but the Seahawks won't be okay without him as the QB. We won't have an idea about where Seattle will finish in the 2022 Draft order for many more months. Since re-joining the National Football Conference in 2002, the Seahawks have compiled a record of 167–120–1 (as of the end of the 2019 season). Also since then, the Seahawks have had only 4 losing seasons (all between 2008 and 2011), although their 2010 team won the Western division title, despite finishing with a 7–9 record. The Seahawks actually traded 2 first round picks to the Jets to get Adams. www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/jamal-adams-trade-seahawks-jets/u4zwtc3j417v1wt7wx6lbj4in

Picture of RW in Bleacher Report with a heavily bandaged hand after having surgery to repair a ruptured tendon. I think saying 6-8 weeks is very optimistic for his recovery.

Bye, Bye SeaChickens. RW might be moving on -- Seattle still has a horrible OL/defense and Jamal Adams is playing at best average yet they gave away 2 first rounders to get him. The 2022 1st rounder will most likely be in the top 15 and their best OL is a FA and 36 yrs old. . Heck -- maybe Pete will be headed back to USC and without RW will Metcalf even resign with the team for 2023 ??

The finger will never be the same and the question is how long to get the strength back, will he be able to throw decent again?
The tendons in fingers are attached as far as the elbow. Many have suffered from carpal tunnel where the openings or tracks where those tendons need to be opened for tendons to travel better. If he ruptured a tendon does that need a cadaver tendon replacement? Maybe not with a six week recovery.
Maybe the tendon or tendons damaged are on top of finger and that is why it looks partially shut. If so that may allow pressure for gripping that would help to hold football.
Although it may be six week recovery…that digit will be tender for quite some time. Not sure how comfortable RW will be to put it in harms way for a while, could easily turn into several months if not season ending.
Center snap would be difficult and if clunky that finger could interfere with catching (shot gun snap).
Hawks better call Bears and see if they are willing to trade a vet QB.

He loves coaching pros. I don't see him retiring or stepping up to the FO just because RW leaves the Seahawks. I certainly don't see Carroll returning to the NCAAF level.

The household med expert here advised me this morning that RW is going to need hand rehab and that cannot start until the tissue is completely healed. Of course, some guys ignore medical advice and start rehab anyway. If he rebabs prior to tissue recovery, there is risk of additional damage.
I think RW is done playing QB for the season, unless he has a miracle recovery / rehab and the Seahawks qualify for the playoffs in January.

Why risk career ending damage when this season is lost.
