Watched those 9ers pressers and we need to roll those guys and show them who the new boss of the NFCW is. They don't have the talent to hang but we like to play down to our competition. Let's change that.

Watched the 49er vs Seahawks game, came away with a few thoughts...
1.) Trey Lance has almost no touch. I wonder if Watt and the DL can manage to tip some passes
2.) Lance is very apt to run beyond his second read. The first read will almost always be Deebo, that offense funnels through him now. We'll need a QB spy since he likes to use his feet so much. He almost never slides, and will hit the ground face first. Might be exploitable to the strip.
3.) Lance will be awful to defend against at the goal line. Hopefully he doesn't get too many opportunities to shine
4.) The SF pass rush is pretty awesome to behold. Seattle, despite earlier failure, stuck to the run game and started to tire out the SF DL. As a result, Russ had more time to do his magic in the second half. This was also when Seattle started to break off some bigger runs.
6.) SF's special team play was atrocious; they were responsible for 7 points last Sunday.
7.) Those DBs in SF's backfield...totally exploitable. They're running for coverage, but not attacking the ball. I think we're gonna make them pay
8.) The LBs are pretty elite in SF. They destroyed the Seattle screen game and horizontal defense. So fast to attack.
9.) They're gonna run all day against us next week. However, if we can remove Deebo, we'll really hamstring this offense. Pressure down the middle is going to be critical vs Lance, so Watt will need to have a good day. We should win this one.

LB Simmons is my guy to sit on rookie QB Lance all day. If Simmons stays opposite of Lance, there will be no QB breakouts. Lance will run at the first sign of a CB / S blitz, right into Mr. Jones' and Mr. Watt's arms. I do not want rookie LB Collins to play unless the Cardinals have at least a 14-point lead in the 2nd half. He will be hyper aggressive and that can be exploited by the 49ers experienced Offense.
I think the Cardinals found their running game last Sunday. It's QB in shotgun and 2 RB set. The Rams Defense learned that containing a 3-RB trio with multiple 3-4 WR sets is impossible.
TE Maxx Williams is finally the big blocker and receiver this team has always needed. His hands are not perfect but seem to work.

Try to keep Lance in the pocket and takeaway his first and second read ... Budda and Jalen Thompson are also sure tacklers who can take care of the RB-screen. 49ers RB-room and secondary are depleted so I do look for Cards offense to be able to move the football. I hope the coaches realize to look for Shanahan go on 4th down a little more due to K Gould being out and the running ability of Lance

Only one undefeated team left and it’s our own AZ Cardinals! Only Week 5 though. Obviously, that also means we have the best record in the NFL. I have to wonder if we have ever been in this position before....not tied, but the sole leader... Its good to be a Card fan these days....

Recommend review the video on QB Trey Lance in the 2nd half of the SEA @ SF game. Watch closely. He has a fast twitch. This reminds me of former QB Colin Kaepernick in his early SF years. Check out also the NFL Gamebook and note the series plays called by HC Shanahan in the 2nd half. This data will give you an indication of what to expect from the HC and QB on Sunday.
Beating QB Lance will not a hard problem for the Cardinals Defense. Beating a good QB and TE Kittle is a hard problem every day. With a rookie QB starting for SF, there is no need for the Cardinals to get cute on Defense. VJ only has to stick with the fundamentals, maintain DLine gap discipline, tackle well, and cover zones. Everything coming at Lance on Sunday will be new and first time, and some defensive plays will be confusing and entirely miss-read. Lance's fight-or-flight instincts will have to do for him, and they will either help him or hurt him. When the Cardinals Defense gets in Lance's face, he will react to the pressure by dumping off, rolling, running, or sitting down. Lance is not a RB but he will react like a RB and can make big plays in the open field. I doubt he will protect the ball in a pocket scrum. In or out of the pocket, Lance will make some mistakes. The Cardinals can help him make more mistakes. HC Shanahan will design a game plan that minimizes Lance's inexperience and risk factors.
Lance is not an accurate passer. He can hit wide open receivers. Everyone does that. So, cover tight and force Lance to be imperfect.
SEA clearly had both Garoppolo and Lance figured out last Sunday -- the SEA Defense relaxed focus on just one big play, the Deebo long TD. Otherwise, the game was a SEA rout vs. SF. The same will be true for ARI vs. SF this next Sunday.

We've been dominant in our away games and barely survived a close call from the now 1-3 Vikings at home. It's time to show up at home and give the fans a first hand look at the team we all saw play in LA. We are still ranked in the mid to upper 20's against the run and SF is averaging 115/game right now and that is with JG at QB. Expect that number to go up if TL starts. Containment and QB pressure will be the key to force mistakes that our super hot secondary can exploit. On the offensive side of the ball, we just need to score early and force SF to play from behind.

On the offensive side of the ball, we just need to score early and force SF to play from behind. All true. The Vikings game win was a gift. I accept. No returns. At LAR, we clearly saw what happens to an average offense when it has to play from behind. The team's attitude was impacted. Their defense pressed harder. The Cardinals rush attack in the 2nd half then sucked all the remaining oxygen out of SoFi. I look for SF use some gimmicks on Sunday. Whatever we have not seen so far in 2021, will be revealed on Sunday. Lance is starting. Shanahan will work hard to help his young QB before each snap. After the snap, it's all on Lance. The Cardinals need to get up on the 49ers early and stay there. 14-0, 21-0, etc. SF does not have enough tools to play catch-up football. Of course, the Cardinals cannot provide any gifts. Of if they do, make sure they are ones that do not affect the outcome.
