Our last 3 coaches. All different ages. All from different back grounds. But they all had the same thing in common. My system works ! And were going to do it my way. All three were incapable of change. All three were in a way failures. Simply because it was their way or no way.
Well we know Wiz had a good couple of years. Even led the Cards to the super bowl. Did he really ? Or was it his QB in Warner doing it his way. Before and after Warner Wiz teams were a train wreck.
BA also had a couple good years. Got us to the NFC championship game. He got exposed in that game and his system. After that he was a 500 coach at best. Again were going to do it my way. No risk it no biscuit.
Now we come to Wilks. There was a very good write up about him on Revenge of the Birds. Basically pointing out how he is doing it his way. Especially on defense, and to a lesser extent on offense.
Three different coaches with the same way about coaching. My system works ! Well guess what. It didn't ! Not one looked at the players and tried to fit their system to the players strengths. All three trying to fit square pegs in round holes. The worst of the bunch has been Wilks. Now he has totally lost the players on this team.
Maybe it time for a change in the way management goes about hiring a new head coach. Starting with making sure the guy will work to the players strengths. Then someone who will assemble a staff who can actually teach these guys their positions. Someone who isn't all about me and my way.
This team has hit rock bottom. It really can't get much worse. Time to clean out all the stench and start anew. The Cards need to start from scratch. That means getting rid of every one who had a hand in leading this team to the bottom of the barrel. Start at the top with SK and every coach on staff now and let them all go at the end of the year. I doubt very seriously if Wilks would be able to get these players to play for him again.

BA IMO was the best of that bunch. I don't think he was exposed in the NFC championship game I think the team stayed home and rolled over. No CP no wins that's true with most NFL teams.
I also think all coaches do it their way from pop warner to the NFL. IMHO get a coach that fits the players and system we have. We need an identity and a way we do things. The Cardinal way. Yes I will always say we. We don't have a Cardinal way like great franchises do.

This concept always confuses me. Do you think these guys elevated to becoming a leader of men, holding 1 of the the 32 most sought after jobs in the sports world by being candyasses? By not having strong personalities and supreme confidence in their abilities? F course they believe their way is right even when they hit bumps in the road.
The issue with Whiz is his system stopped working and he didn’t adapt. The issue with BA is I think he was just done. The issue with Wilks is he just ain’t that good.
I don’t think guys like Belichek, McVey or Zimmer are successful because they ask a bunch of people for their ideas.

I will add this. If BA, CP, and the rest came back this year and could stay on the filed WE would make the playoffs.

Our o-line would still suck enough to get Palmer hit 20 times a game like he did when he was playing, but they do throw flags for even touching the QB so theres that.. You may be onto something.

Defensive minded head coaches seem to over simplify the offensive side of the football operations....just run the ball, right.

Don’t disrespect BA by putting him in the same vein as Wilks.

I'm a bit confused how you can say that Wilks is the worst, he has had a very small sample size. If you mean he is the worst at trying to force players in to his system, he's not. Whiz would literally go on TV and tell everyone, including his players, that everything was the players' fault, I'm not changing anything, the system works. Whiz was a horrendous coach that fell into getting the Cardinals to a Superbowl. Whiz was undoubtedly horrendous. It's a little early to claim the same about Wilks, though he has certainly done badly so far.

There are some great postings on this thread...
Your second paragraph sir is the best I have read on this forum and goes right to the heart of matters. - It would be good to hear direct from Mr Bidwell on this. What is the Cardinal identity? What are WE going to do different to the other 31? - If there is no such thing then we are going to drift along and hope that every 32 years 'our time will come' purely on the law of averages. It won't because some others out there will be smart and have the correct structures in place to work to an identity and ACHIEVE.
I think JAB's comments should be placed on a new thread for all to clearly see and comment.
