Keim did his Friday interview today. 2 things stood out:
1. Doug is the worst interviewer ever. He asks a tough question (good) and then immediately offers an out (awful). For example: "This offense has been very inconsistent thus far and many fans are angry at the offensive playcalling. Do you feel Mike Mccoys offense is too conservative....or is this the natural growing pains of a new system?" OF COURSE HES GOING TO NOW SAY "yeah its just growing pains". Do not follow up your questions with life rafts you idiot. You just neutered the question.
2. When asked "Have your expectations changed for the season". Keim said NO. Thats fireable to me. Do you know what successful people do: pivot. Change plans. Adjust. Only morons stay the course when the course isnt working.

He still wants to compete and try to win games. They're obviously doing that while also playing young guys. What do you want him to adjust that they're not doing? Fire the coach in week 4?

Back in the day when the SS Cardinals Special Teams hit rock bottom I tuned in to the show just to see what Otis would have to say. Wolfley (who else?) asked about the dreadful kicking game, Otis offered up a non answer and off we went to the next question. That was the day I committed to never listen to the Otis Show again. Ignoring the elephant in the living room does not a captivating show make.
Just curious, why do you listen? Just for the hilarity?

He still wants to compete and try to win games. They're obviously doing that while also playing young guys. What do you want him to adjust that they're not doing? Fire the coach in week 4? Easy: "Have your expectations changed for the season" "No question we need to reevaluate what our goals are and how we reach them. Clearly what we've been doing hasnt worked so we will attack this from a different direction and take it one week at a time. Whether or not we make the playoffs will be heavily dependent on the steps we take moving forward and if it appears that we are out of the playoffs early, then we will determine how to get the most value out of this remaining season. Id expect a large aspect of that to be grooming Josh and getting the young guys some more reps.". There. Perfect answer. I should be GM

Maybe I should just call Keim Keim but I have a hard time refraining from mocking people as as him.

Interesting wiki link. I remember a few Andy Griffin shows, mostly the odd characters. I did not know about the one remake. In the remake, interestingly, Otis Campbell achieved rehabilitation and went on to become the town's ice cream van driver.

The first stirrings of PC, ya think?
The town drunk was a common theme in comedy for a loooong time, and in the case of small towns usually accurate to a greater or lesser degree.
Mocking real life was a comedic staple. Everyone knew it was a spoof of reality. Now "comedy" is mostly dismal and political. No fun, no laughs, no true comedy.
Wouldn't it be nice if we could laugh at ourselves again without being accused of being hateful, or another of a mountain of accusatory terms?
Otis, you are missed.
Meanwhile, back to Cardinals football . . .

Give that man a ci-gar. I agree with everything he said about SK. All except bringing in the one year prove it guys. Every team does that. Some you hit on for 1 year some you don't. What get me is SK's drafting. He hasn't done a very good job in that regard. Humph, Riddick, D Buck, Niche are nothing special. Those are all 1st round choices. Easiest and fastest way for a team to go in the tank is keep missing on your first and second round picks. These are the types of statements that make some of us laugh. It's the type of thing someone says when they're behind a keyboard and won't ever have to answer to it in the real world. To call guys effective busts this early in their career is ridiculous. For example, DJ was very good last year and was a top 5 rated LT yesterday after being solid the 4 games. Reddick is now really starting to flash, and why not, he's only in the early part of year 2. The Buc stuff is nonsense because he's shown ability in the proper scheme. Robert N is flashing as well. Really ignorant to write guys off so early just to strengthen your narrative.

Did you mean to tip your hat to Nkemdiche the day after he sat out another one?
This business is cruel, damn cruel, and the window to shine is open for a short time and closes fast. Not saying it's fair, but I sure as hell aren't going to say it's something different that what it is. We can all root for kindness and happy thoughts for our boys in red, but at some point they either can play or they can't. If Nkemdiche can't make it out there on Sundays, he goes. Remember, cruel business.
I wonder if Nkemdiche's "I think I can fly!" act from his days at Mississippi did some permanent damage that no one caught on a physical. He flew from the fourth floor as I recall before Ma Nature and one of her favorite sidekicks gravity took over. Add 300+ pounds of Nkemdiche on top of much smaller bones hitting unsympathetic pavement. Just a theory, any orthopedic surgeons here?
