Josh played a nearly flawless game with a very few mistakes (like missing a wide open Kirk in the corner of the end zone for an easy TD). He didn't throw any interceptions or make any glaring "rookie" type mistakes which leads me to believe he has absorbed McCoy's rudimentary playbook very well and needs to be pushed harder next game. I have to wonder if some (most) of the dropped passes were due to players just not expecting the ball to be headed their way? I remember watching a special about Brett Favre (I'm not comparing the two) where Holmgren had to tell his receivers that if they were on the field, they needed to be ready to catch the ball regardless of the play called. The kid is smart and was deadly accurate with his throws tonight. A few of the passes to RSJ were just jaw dropping. McCoy should have entrusted him with the ball the last series of the game and let him try and make something happen. I'd be happier with him throwing a pick to end the game than what happened tonight. Wilks and McCoy gave up on him and with those three horrible run plays and sealed our fate by putting the game into our aging kickers leg. Playing not to lose rather than playing to win is what I think it is called. It was like watching a car rolling towards a cliffs edge and knowing there was nothing you could do....painful.
Let's open the playbook up and see what the rookie can do. A little of the "no riskit, no biskit" style would be ok and if he throws a pick or two so be it, at least we will know how deep into the playbook he can go.
By the way, did anyone else notice how much he was smiling out there? How the stadium picked up when he was on the field? Even the sidelines seemed more energized. This team was actually fun to watch again....for a moment.

Yes I did notice that. He has that it factor. He was smooth and in control for his first start. Maybe the only reason for us to watch this season.

If he gets hurt it's time to enjoy the nice fall / winter Phoenix weather. Take a walk, listen to the birds, go for a hike, sit on the patio and breathe some fresh air.

Outside of a few player he's surrounded by bush leaguers and village idiots.

His first pass of the game to DJ was really his only inaccurate pass... however on 98.7 it was mentioned DJ might have cut the wrong way. Rosen's every throw was a perfect spiral which is why the drops are unforgiveable.
P.S. FINALLY .. I have been calling for a well setup screen pass for 15 years and finally McCoy dials it up for the longest offensive play of the year. Is it too much to call the same play 3-4x per game rather than the counter run game which right now is averaging negative run yards for the season ?

I feel so much better about things today after watching rosen. He is the real deal.
I was telling my friends, watching him drop back, it's the first time maybe ever that I've watched a cardinal QB drop back and I've felt calm that something positive might happen...I wasn't squinting waiting for the bad.
I was really, really impressed with Rosen. Could be very exciting times ahead.

I Was happy seeing the QB of the future play so well during his first start.. The drops didnt help his cause and neither did Wilks. Wilks didnt help any by losing that game. I hope he's fired after the season.

This is the best I could possibly feel after losing and going 0-4.... we have a rookie qb that looks like he could be the real deal. I have all the confidence in the world in Rosen, I just hope our front office can do their job and give him the tools he needs to be a top tier team. Coaches are a question. Gm is a question.

I agree and it's baffling. DJ is supposedly one of the best backs in football. I watch a lot of other games and it's play action all the time. Look at what aaron rogers does. That will open up everything underneath for Kirk and Fitz.
