Some on the former forum and myself (formerly SurpriseCardfan) identified Nichols CB - Thomas CB - James DE - Howard (Safety) as possible players who could make the 53-man roster or the practice squad. twitter.com/mikejurecki?lang=enInteresting that 98.7 yesterday had WR Trent Sherfield as THE potential surprise of the entire mini-camps. Decent size and an excerpt from this article says "about to earn his Vanderbilt degree, Sherfield helped himself with an exceptional pro timing day performance. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.39." www.news-gazette.com/sports/prep-sports/2018-04-23/asmussen-sherfield-awaits-nfl-draft-call.htmlBTW: I am still intrigued by last year's UDFA WR Agudosi at 6'6" 220 lbs who at this size ran an incredible 6.75 3-cone/40'5" vertical and for size a respectable 4.5 40 at his pro day - www.nj.com/rutgersfootball/index.ssf/2017/03/rutgers_pro_day_results_andre_patton_shows_surpris.html#incart_river_index He is my pick for being the offensive surprise of training camp this year as he has good physical tools and an unbelievable 3-cone time for someone that tall should reflect well in getting in-and-out of breaks well. He says he is dedicating this upcoming season to his grandfather so it sounds like he's working hard to make the 53-man roster -

Yes, Agudosi seems right. Everything about him screams Pro Bowler. So why didn't he workout last year? Grumpy coaches?
New coaching staff now. Time for Agudosi to separate himself from the WR herd.

We had obvious demonstrations of actual incompetence in coaching the last few seasons, and reasons to suspect there might be other areas where improved coaching would have improved results with the players we had available. I feel we will see a difference on the field from what we have seen in the past, given some time for everyone to adjust and absorb the new system, new players, and gain familiarity with each other's strengths. It does take some time to get to that point, but we should see signs of betterment along the way. Maybe Agudosi will surpass Seals-Jones' early performance. It would be nice to see a tall receiver as a target more often.

They are typically undrafted and/or on the practice squad for a reason. It may boil down to them getting coached from a different perspective, but ultimately if the talent was there up front, they'd be on the active roster from the get go. None of this means that I won't root for them to get on the team. I love a good underdog story.

Just remember BA and coaches didn't even play Ricky Seals - Jones until forced by injury and he at least showed his potential was greater than any TE on the roster. BTW: Jurecki had this tweet yesterday about how good all the draft picks looked and cited 2 UDFA's (both at positions lacking depth) and 1 veteran WR who looked good --

For all the good BA did he has his faults. His main fault was his loyalty to certain coaches and players. That would eventually have been his down fall if he wouldn't have retired.

I always thought we had great WR performances from the preseason from guys who never were able to make our crowded roster. This year, its really wide open. Maybe Agudosi will build up a good chemistry with Rosen..

Is Gresham still recovering from his injury? It was an ACL tear late into the year correct? This will give RSJ a very good opportunity to impress the new coaches this offseason. I don't think its hard to say that he could become the best AZ Cardinal Tight End, as long as he continues to impress.

When they sign these players and let them go two weeks later, what kind of money do they get in their contracts. Looks like a waste of money if it’s any amount.

It's a process to find the best players whether Try out players for a few thousand during the try out period, or for an UDFA'a contract signing. Again which is just a few thousand if they wash out/get cut. Business in the NFL as usual.

Whats a few??? 3...20...172 Link...... For the guys that have been cut that were UDFAs, your 1st number is very close.
I don't have a current link but Urban posted about the UDFAs and tryout players wages early last year. Not sure if Spotrac breaks it down on a weekly basis or monthly.
