Hi everyone. Thanks for the welcome. I am indeed from Sheffield in the lovely county of South Yorkshire.
I started getting in to the NFL around 6 years ago. I loved the competitiveness of it, the tactics and psychology of it and how it is set up to be fair (draft system, wage cap etc). Our English football is a shadow of what it used to be - completely dominated by 4 or 5 clubs with teams focused mostly on not losing rather than winning. A lot of people in the UK are disillusioned with it. I saw a few games on holiday in the Caribbean and then, when I got home, the Cardinals All Or Nothing series was airing. I loved some of the stories in the series - Larry, David Johnson, Carson Palmer, and the Cards became my team. I did consider the Steelers (Sheffield was a big steel producing city once upon a time) and the Eagles (Sheffield's rugby league team is called the Eagles), but the pull of the Cardinals was too great!
I went to our London game against the Rams (less said about that the better), and go each year to 1 or 2 London games. We went to London for the weekend for the Cards game and the night before the game were in a pub in Trafalgar Square with lots of Cardinal fans from the US. We got talking to some guys who worked for the Cardinals in the PR department and I was telling them how difficult it is to get Cardinals jerseys and merch in the UK and one of the guys took off his Cardinals Hoodie and gave it to me as a gift. It's now a prized possession and summed up what a good decision I had made!!
The only game I've been to in the US was the Redskins at the Eagles a couple of years ago while on holiday in Philadelphia. The next ambition is to get to a Cards game in Arizona.

Glad to have you here Sir, When you come to visit and go to a game in Arizona you should have a great time. It is a beautiful stadium with lots of interesting things to do. Before the game, tailgating parties are always fun with all kinds of food and beverages. If you play your trip accordingly, I am sure someone on the forum will be glad to work with you to make it an enjoyable experience. I live in Florida and have been a Cardinal fan since 1964. Having new members from different backgrounds makes for a much better forum. Over the years it has been hard for the Cardinals to build and establish a team culture. You mentioned the Pittsburgh Steelers who have that kind of winning tradition culture. The only way to improve this is by winning games and being a fun team to watch. We are on our way to changing the past. It is time for a real breakthrough and this Cardinal team has the ability to establish a winning tradition. Meanwhile, enjoy your time on the forum and participate in the discussion. If you need anything, Please feel free to message me FloridaCardinalFan

I also made the trip to London for the Rams game at Twickenham and we can in the words of Monty Python "Say No More Squire". Wow, I was also in the The Admiralty pub on the Saturday before the Rams game with my brother. We spent quite a bit of time talking to a fan who made the trip from Queensland, Australia !! The EPL is getting more competitive it is still dominated by the 6 or so large clubs with lots of resources. Let me know if you do need details and decide to make a trip to Arizona and I will be more than happy to assist.

Greeting Sheffieldukcard from here in the south-west.
Apart from the aforementioned UK members on this forum we also have NorthernSoul, who is southern based as well. - I'm not sure if there is anyone else?
UKCardinal tends to appear each draft season and I'm hoping that he will be back soon.
Yes, you made a wise choice landing in Arizona and picking the Cardinals. - They may never have won the SB, but you are in for one heck of a journey - To glory and beyond!
I joined two years ago knowing very little and I have increased my knowledge and understanding of everything as time has gone by. My love for the club as grown and I now couldn't dream of following another team. One day I will too visit and attend a home game.
Anyway, my advice for the forum is to embrace it and post whatever you think and feel. As long as what you say is respectful (to others) then people will tolerate you and your viewpoint.
Enjoy!

Thanks everyone for the welcome.
I’m a Wednesday fan Zeke, although it’s tough going (especially with United being in the premier league at the moment)! Our day will come though, just like the cardinals!!

Our day will come though, just like the cardinals!! sheffieldukcard I see that Wednesday started the season with -12 points with points deducted because of breach of financial rules I am a long time Arsenal fan and still follow my home town team Coventry City. We will have our days of glory as Cardinal fans and believe that they are not very far away !!

I've done Hillsborough Parkrun twice. Once officially. The last time was a couple of months back after I'd done Barnsley & Concord Parkruns in the same morning. I was going to do Sheffield Castle, but I was battered. By the time I got home though I took my 10 year old to do Dewsbury Parkrun. Just managed the last one sub 30 mins as with the rest. Not bad to say all are hilly medium difficulty courses.
