I am specifically picking against favorites all the time cause that's silly, of course you'd be at the top if you did that. No real challenge. I've done leagues that have better pickem rules than straight up.
Maybe give it a try next year?

I correctly predicted the 49ers losing to the Eagles. Who will be the brave one and predict the Falcons over the Packers?

JAB asked if anyone wanted more rules. No one spoke up. I said I was fine with the old way. And that was the total response. We are mostly a bunch of old geezer Card fans with a couple of young'uns in the mix. You must be one of the young'uns. And as you can see we only got 10 forum members to participate this year anyway.

Lol, does early 30's count as young'un?
I didn't really catch it till near season was about to start so I just did whatever. There's a reason gambling just doesn't have pick'em games, or if you picked a favorite you could pay $10 to win $3 or something.
It is more of a different system.
What I have done before is add "confident" numbers to picks, so 1 through n for any given week depending how many games of course.
You get points based off of the confidence number so 1, 2, 3...8, etc. You can only use a number once each week. You get points equal to the confidence number. So a 15 would be your totally confident pick and 1 would be you are really iffy about.
It was all done on a sheet of paper that was printed and then turned in/scanned or w/e, so not really nearly as easy through yahoo app (although maybe they have something similar). But it could easily just be a post on a forum, so that would be easy to track.
I suppose it's possible we can switch to that whenever we wanted. But that was probably the most fun type of pickem. It may take a few more minutes but it's more engaging/fun than browsing Wed night/Thur morning or Sat night/Sun morning to take a few seconds on picks on whatever I feel at the moment lol. Perhaps pickem just doesn't have enough oomph (but still kinda fun) cause you could just picked favored every time (not that fun) or mix it up and lose (also not fun to lose). So, yeah.
Perhaps why few people playing? Did there used to be more playing this?
We also should have done a survivor pool too. Those are always fun. We should do that next year. I would love to have more fan engagement on forum for fun little stuff.

You know, I got to admit, I wished I signed up for this year again. I miss the banter about Monday night and Thursday night games and other things as well.
Good luck to all. And if I'm still alive ( I'm a old dude ) I will join next year.

Yep you a young’un. But hey as my 21 year old stepson says everyone around him is in the 20 and under club. Back on topic. I think several years back we did the ranking system based on confidence. If not here I think it was an office pool that I did that. It is a lot more fun. I hate the survivors pool because once you are done you are done. I also think you could use a team only once in the season. Once you used the Cardinals for example that was it. Interesting since there is some strategy especially later on.

I know survivor pools are lame once you're out, but it could easly be tweaked. Perhaps a "buy back" situation and maybe a type of point system with it. Maybe you have to "sit" out a week, so you have fewer opportunities to rack up points (wins). Could do a number of things with it. I don't know of that system, just would have to play around with it.

I did a copy paste and then had to fiddle with it just to get what I had the week before. We all took a dive on TB and KC, But zalixar and ConnecticutCard got the Car vs Atl pick right. Got games showing up for Monday afternoon now! Football everywhere!

Well hello everyone I'm back. I wish the heck I went elk hunting we all would have limited out on elk but I only saw one deer.
I guess it's my fault the Cardinals are not 5 and 0 because I kept saying I expected them to be. I'm absolutely stunned they're not 4 in 1. I don't know what the hell happened.
As to the game itself. I think political issues "we won't talk about" and covid-19 on football have kept people from The forum in general let alone playing this game.
As to the game just being straight-up we talked a lot about it last year. Doing the spread doing a survivor pool and other things. But this year there just wasn't any interest in the conversation so I left it simple.
At the end of the regular season we also do a just-for-fun playoff prediction. But our champion is based upon the regular season.
I could set up a survival pool if it lets us start later I imagine it will. I can give it a try if people want to do it.
I see I had one week from hell but the rest was okay. Well I'll switch over to my computer and take a look and put up last week's weekly winner and current standings.
