I don’t think the Cardinals will be able to trade Glennon.. if we cut him, there are significant dead cap issue’s.
what would you do?

I think conditions could arise that would allow Glennon to be traded. Problem is what to do with Kanoff until those circumstances arise. He could go on the PS until a team made it clear they wanted him, forcing a decision. There are still 2 preseason games left and Glennon and Kanoff may play significant time in those games that could play in to the decision. Kanoff has looked good playing against 2's and 3's, but that likely means little to NFL teams seeking a new QB2 or especially QB1 in the event theirs gets injured.
Glennon obviously has experience playing against NFL D's and is a more likely target IMO than a green UDFA.

It’s possible that the Cardinals could pay part of his salary, if a trade possibility arises. Fortunately we do have some time left before the 53 is locked in.. If Kanoff continues to impress, I think the Cardinals should pick the best of the 2. Regardless of dead cap issues. It does eat up some of the 2019 available cap space. If the FO knew for sure that one of the top rookie QB’s was going to fall to the Cardinals, perhaps they would have passed on Glennon.

The fact is, nobody knew prior to the draft who would be picked at #1...#2,3,5,10 etc. Of course AFTERWARDS? It's easy for somebody to pretend they had a crystal ball. Glennon was the insurance in the event SB went down, and nobody knew how the draft would play out. We were the proud recipients of JR and now have some decisions to be made and that is a nice "problem" to have in lieu of the alternatives.

This year the new coaching staff gets to install their program and hopefully start playing Rosen and developing him. Next year we can move on and really start the Rosen/Wilks era.
Hopefully Bradford and Glennon are gone next year and we reduce our hit to 8 million from the current 25 million were paying to Sam, Glennon and Palmer to 8 million to Sam and Glennon who will both be off the roster. There is no reason to get rid of Kanoff. He makes about 425K.

Trade Glennon and keep Kanoff.

This next game against Dallas should give us a more clear idea. If Glennon is healthy, he needs a good performance. If he bombs and Kanoff looks good again, then it gets real interesting. Jury is still out for me.

This will be an interesting situation to watch develop. I have never liked Glennon and one of the best pieces of news last offseason was when I heard he signed with the Bears. I didn’t want him this year, but signing him actually made some sense with the Brandford thing for insurance.
People on here always love the shiny new toy and put WAY too much value on these young QB’s and preseason performance. Max Hall was the next greatest thing and when real season came it didnt quite work out that way. Everyone needs to reign it in a bit on Kanoff. (I could list 8 other qb’s this board was so sad we cut)
On the flip side, it sounds like Cards really like what they have seen out of him and maybe there is something to it. I do think Glennon has a better chance to win us a game at this point and with our Oline there is a chance a 3rd string QB has to play. If Glennon could actually be traded (would be a LATE round pick) then keep the kid. We would be in trouble If either Glennon or Kanoff played regardless.

To the OP's question, Kanoff.

There aren't words to describe how relieved I am for us to be discussing and debating the QB3 spot instead of QB1 and 2.

keep the kid. he can out play Glennon and both qbs ahead of him have injury historys. just because you over spent on something does not mean keeping it is the right move. if you bought a Ferrari for 1k and a ford pinto for 20k and can only keep one keep the Ferrari. we already lost the money on Glennon, we don't have to lose a future backup who is going to play more than most backups too. its about the wins not about the money. if bidwil want a return on his investment he can take it out of keims check....tell him its the dwi fine.

To me Glennon is just another Stanton or Gabbert. If Sam goes down your not going to win enough with Glennon to have a shot at the playoffs. If Sam goes down I'd rather give the reps to Rosen and speed up his clock. Your not going to get to the playoffs with Rosen either this year. Simply because he is a rookie, and the Cards aren't good enough to carry him. So if Sam goes down your season is pretty much over. Like almost every other team out there. The only one I can think of with a good back up is Philly with Foles. GB has Kizner and Hundley. Ugh !
At least with Karnoff you might have someone coachable enough where in a couple years he would be a decent backup. Someone who you could actually win with.
I'd keep Karnoff and let Glennon go. Glennon isn't all of a sudden going to get much better.

There aren't words to describe how relieved I am for us to be discussing and debating the QB3 spot instead of QB1 and 2. I remember this same QB #2 & #3 silliness last year. That was fun while it lasted. Then Carson's catastrophic injury happened and #2 and #3 killed off any chance of a winning season. There was not a defer button. I did not vote for either Qb.
