Interesting move for sure. Must have been on his way out so got something for him. Odd considering that is a weak position. Turned a 3rd round pick into a 7th, good stuff.

With this move expect Cards to sign at least one more OLB and this is a probable sign Victor is cut if they can't dump him.

I really liked Cam in college...he became a classic tweener in a bad way. I noticed he was not getting push against Denver in the 5 tech and ran past the QB in the 7 tech...not good when on the bubble...he was playing against low level competition and did not show good enough.

Unfortunately Ernst Jones IV is in the division...Cards could trade for him and pair him with White and put Wilson at OLB...that would be a dangerous group of LBs

Only $900k cap relief. I thought he was our third best on the depth chart at his position.

I thought he acted a little light in the loafers when I watched him play vs. DEN. His effort was, hmmmm, careful. I assume he knew his name would be called on Monday.

I enjoy Jesse Root the writer of the article I pasted. Here is the meat in his article: Thomas was one of the best players of the preseason for the Cardinals, getting a team-leading three sacks. Thomas, drafted in the third round in 2022, apparently became expendable with the emergence of rookie fifth-round pick Xavier Thomas and the depth and special teams play of Victor Dimukeje. The move is certainly a surprise, especially with his production following the season-ending injury to second-year linebacker BJ Ojulari. However, netting a seventh-round pick, he was going to be cut had he not been traded. Victor at this point stays based on STs play. We focus on the defensive reps and neither Cam or Victor could bend into the QB consistently...the blasts past the QBs were wasted effort. The saving grace for developmental players is STs and Victor won that battle. This is also confirmation that Monti is bringing in additional OLB option or options.

The Card's Headquarters is a swarm of busy bees this morning. Hoping their efforts strike Gold or Silver for this team!
I expect many new faces on the upcoming 53 & PSquad thru either trade or waivers

Being a Keim holdover, I might've expected this move but with Ojulari going down for the year and Thomas playing well this preseason, I'm a little surprised. I believe Ossenfort and Sears are gearing toward 2025-'26 before they spend serious cap on outside help. We'll see.

In the cold light of day we have traded him for a song to recoup some value. As you say Chirpn'time, if not traded he would have been cut.

I am okay with the cautious approach as another injury could really put this team in a really bad position. The thing is, we have no idea what this team is going to be like. Nobody played…. We are all going to be pleasantly surprised or this board is going to have a meltdown the first half of the Bills game to epic proportions. I am worried about the pass rush as I believe we all have the right to be. What have they seen from Zaven in “practice” to make them think he was worthy of an extension and better than last year?? Gardeck has the heart like Budda, but also like Budda, limited physically. Xavier Thomas has given hope for fans desperate for some form of a good pass rusher. Will he come through, or did he have a Cap Capi type preseason that does not translate to regular season. So many questions to be answered. I still think another edge gets picked up soon, but they had to be okay with one not becoming available. Unlike others, I would not throw money at Reddick. I doubt he even wants a return. He is an East coast guy and had his stint here. I wish Cam the best, I felt he tried here. Just did not work out.

Could the Cards already had a deal in place for a replacement before trading Cam? I'd think we would see something by today. If the Cards don't make a move to add another pass rusher soon could the Cards think they have a dominant enough secondary to make up the difference for now?
