To say the OL players were terrible isn't accurate...Jones had a rough day and will learn from it. CB Jones had a couple flashes. The live snaps are great for the young players...I like how the staff is getting the bottom of the roster live snaps. I wasn't sold on Jones (OL) when he was picked. There's a reason he slid so far. The longhorns best OL are still on the team in college. They supposedly have two absolute studs, and I don't recall if either of them will even be in next year's draft. I do know that with two of their RBs out for the season, they will get plenty of pass protection work this next year. I'm glad Tune is looking better. Lots of folks thought he was a wasted pick last year. And QBs often need to sit a year or two. I'm surprised to hear Riddler doesn't look better, but maybe it's because he's working with the 3rd string? Or are they alternating Tune and Riddler with 2nd and 3rds? When I skimmed today's gameday comments, it looked like a bunch of comments were about terrible defense. Does our defense look worse than last year because that would be hard to imagine? It's also a bit alarming because defense usually looks better than offense early on. Maybe we are just running the most vanilla defensive sets. You must realize that the 1st half was 2nd stringers but the 2nd half was 3rd and below stringers. The D actully kept the game from being a Big blow out. The O Skill players were not bad, but the Oline 3rd stringer got their lunch handed to them After the Opposing D ate it for them!

I've stayed off the board a bit and not watched any pre-season. Can I get an update on which rookies look terrible? Also, I'd like to know how Tip Reinman looks given he was maybe the most debated pick in our draft. MHJ: looks good in practice, little to no pre-season use. WR1 on Game 1. Robinson: looks good in practice, little to no pre-season game use. I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t start but is rotated in early in the season and gets there. Who am I kidding, we don’t have a DE better than him. Starter. Melton: I’ve seen some good and a penalty on special teams where he ran out of bounds and back in using college rules that don’t fly in the NFL. Mental mistake. Word out of practices seems positive but I don’t know if he will start. Benson: good usage in ore-season and I really like what I’ve seen, though he has been stopped several times behind the LOS and needs to learn NFL speed. Go with instincts, no second thoughts in the NFL for a RB. I’d like to see him behind our real Oline. I think he’s a keeper and has a good shot of being RB1 in a season or two, which we need. Adams: not seeing anything I like. He looks like he’s not ready for the NFL yet. Hopefully he figures it out. Reiman: hard to say but he had a catch and I remember on good block opening a hole for the RB he stood out on, which is what we need from him. High hopes for him as a blocking TE to compliment McBride as a receiver. E Jones: couldn’t really tell you, we have so many Jones’ on the team I get confused, but he’s the CB and did have 4 solo tackles, one for a loss yesterday. Tayler-Demerson (Rabbit): seems like a young, poor man’s Budda Baker and the INT was awesome. Small guy, big heart. X Thomas: 2 sacks and close to some others in pre-season. Promising and could be a steal who gets good work on the field with Ojulari’s injury. Google his backstory if you don’t know it…a top high school prospect who hit a bump in the road and is now a comeback story. C Jones: 3 straight holding penalties yesterday, and then managed at least one more. Hard to judge a guy’s athletic ability when his head ain’t right. One of those penalties was called out as wishy washy but still. The Oline rookies haven’t shown anything. T Palmer: 2 receptions on 8 targets in preseason. Meh. Practice team? Meh. J Davis: Who? Probably the tenth best out of our 10 CB’s.

Exactly what I was hoping for, especially with all the rabbit talk and me not knowing who the heck folks were talking about. I knew MHJ looked decent because of all the board comments. He and Robinson are the only two I'd seen a ton of comments about. That and the board debate about whether Kyler should sit or play. But I'm not worried about that right now, just rooks. Mostly, I wanted to know how our DL, CBs and Benson looked. Because I figure those guys are the difference makers this year. Them and Tip. And if Tip is blocking well, that's all I care about for year one since that's why he was drafted. I'm less worried about OL because minus major injuries, starters usually don't need much rotation and that can be fixed in FA easily if need be. Most rookie OL also need a year to develop strength, minus exceptions such as Tristan Wirfs. I'm not even sure I'll be online much this year. Docs finally found out, after years of no answers that my pain issues are auto-immune related. So I'm not sure I need the stress won gets debating on chat boards. It's why I haven't even chimed in on my 'usual target' and am going to just pray that Mr. Murray balls for us this year. I'd happily eat crow if it means less stress jacking up my immune issues. But it sure sounded like our defense was playing so bad that it wouldn't matter how good Kyler played, so it's refreshing to hear from last few posters that the defense might not be as bad as it sounded from my initial game day read throughs. How about Gaines? He looked good before his injury last year, so if he's looking strong, I consider him a rookie as well. Originally, I was one of those predicting a big turnaround year. More wins than most. Hence me being more alarmed by what I thought was too much negativity. Glad to be mistaken.

Sorry to hear about your pain issues. Both my brother, sister and mother-in-law deal with rheumatoid arthritis and are constantly working to manage it. Not disease-related, but I’m on month 4 of my second back injury and pain has been a daily issue. Most of us here are on the older side and are dealing with one thing or another. Don’t let the Cardinals or the board get to you as much, and flip it to enjoyment in the discussion and the positives with the team.

Well we are entering the arrival of the last preseason. This is the last opportunity for live snaps for players like Weaver, Palmer, Javon Davis, Adams, Murphy and C Jones. These are the rookies who need to show progress. The rest of the rookies look set. E Jones is on the bubble as well. The Denver game will be a good last opportunity for these players.
I really like the UDFA DT Murphy from UNC. He is big and looks NFL ready and great depth after the Robinson injury news. Murphy is more interior in his play than DRob.

Many teams are seeing prized rookies fall victim to injuries during TC and PS games. That tells me the new guys are putting in 100% effort to make the 53-man rosters. DL Robinson is the latest Cardinals victim.
HC Gannon tasks guys to study, train, and achieve top conditioning, and then step onto the field on gameday and move fast and violently against the opponent until the whistle blows.
Dang, I hope Robinson does not go on IR for mandatory 4 weeks. But, if he has to sit and rest the calf, I guess that's the best option.
NEXT MAN UP.

Unfortunately, like the old 12 cylinder Ferrari engines, they require extra work to keep firing on all cylinders.

Those types of engines are meant for high performance, and not expected to have a long service life. The Rolls-Royce Merlin engines are another example - great performance but for less time, compared to more mundane engines.
All such examples involve compromise to achieve ultimate results in bursts of maximum power output, and your example is apt for athletes. The performance terms and risks of failure are similar, even though one is mechanical and the other biologic.
IMHO

I am glad you posted this...while you reference another English piece of work..I realized I was thinking of the Jag 12 cylinder and posted Ferrari. My mind is less than a air cooled VW at times.
