I've stayed off the board a bit and not watched any pre-season. Can I get an update on which rookies look terrible? Also, I'd like to know how Tip Reinman looks given he was maybe the most debated pick in our draft.

OL players take time to develop...especially day two OL players...Jones had about 5-6 holding calls. Tip got a short reception and played a little...he is good to go. Melton and Rabbit look really good and Clark had a solid game. Good news Beach is a great swing tackle and Colon and Gaines are solid interior OL options. Ridder was horrible and Tune was almost okay...Tune is much better. X Weaver was okay or at least looks like he can compete in the NFL and DT Murphy had a few splashes...he looks like a steal as a UDFA. XT looks good. Cam Thomas had a decent showing. To say the OL players were terrible isn't accurate...Jones had a rough day and will learn from it. CB Jones had a couple flashes. The live snaps are great for the young players...I like how the staff is getting the bottom of the roster live snaps.

Otherwise I still can't give an opinion as the starters are not playing. But the backups have a lot of film now to go over and try to fix the issues

I’m very unsettled that our starters and even our 1st round rookies aren’t playing in pre-season. First real game speed and tackles for some of these guys in nine months is going to be a game that counts against the Bills.

TBD soon if it is wise or not. Rust is to be expected...do they play starters for a series next week? We will find out soon

There's a reason he slid so far. The longhorns best OL are still on the team in college. They supposedly have two absolute studs, and I don't recall if either of them will even be in next year's draft. I do know that with two of their RBs out for the season, they will get plenty of pass protection work this next year. I'm glad Tune is looking better. Lots of folks thought he was a wasted pick last year. And QBs often need to sit a year or two. I'm surprised to hear Riddler doesn't look better, but maybe it's because he's working with the 3rd string? Or are they alternating Tune and Riddler with 2nd and 3rds? When I skimmed today's gameday comments, it looked like a bunch of comments were about terrible defense. Does our defense look worse than last year because that would be hard to imagine? It's also a bit alarming because defense usually looks better than offense early on. Maybe we are just running the most vanilla defensive sets.

Who was blaming him for penalties? I thought we blamed him for a bad offense and not getting respect of the team. Oh and not being a good coach to Kyler...

JG blamed himself and the coaches in his post game press conference. He said the coaches job is to have the team ready to play. He also said it is technique and or poor choices. I would expect this to be a point of emphasis this week.

Jones played LT and RT tackle and in his defense I don't like the ticky tack way the refs were calling his holds. One area of concern for me was Collier getting pushed around on interior run game in one on one blocking. Robinson is needed at the 3 tech in run defense.

Why is it you are interested in knowing which ones look "terrible"? Edit: There is no "n" in Tip's last name. I doubt if he even buys his underwear at K Mart... 😁

They said no discipline because they did not respect the coach.

I doubt if he even buys his underwear at K Mart... 😁 There's already been lots of positive talk on Robinson so ballin' is sort of assumed there. Which is why one asks about who looks the worst. One can also disregard super positive talk this early because it's just pre-season so... why get so excited on those guys when we've seen many fail. But if a guy is failing against scrubs, it's nice to know who we will need to replace, especially if the depth is as bad as some say. Hope that answers your question If I was asking just to be a negative Nancy, you know who I'd be making jokes about I've never stayed away from the boards this long. But I have two reasons. One, taking care of a very ill family member. Second, I'm trying out a new theory one of the other old board members uses, which is not watching the Cards play live, in the hopes that 'delayed' watching will lead to better outcomes. (Yeah, I'm a little superstitious) Since another board member says it worked last year, I'm hoping our 'combined' sacrifice of delayed games might add a few more wins. Since we are the ones sacrificing, maybe we are the SuperFans. If the Cards are playing as bad as some of these posters mention, the sacrifice clearly isn't working.

Trade Budda and play Rabbit. I’ve said for a long time I am good with getting rid of him and using that money on a more important position. Rabbit’s playmaking just proves me theory even more right.
His value is not as much as last offseason and I know it will not happen, but I’m more than good with it. I did not watch all of the game last night as it was during my daughter’s bday party, but I did see his pick. Budda can’t cover and doesn’t get INT’s. Safeties should have cover skills.
Maybe Rabbit had a horrible game and I just do not know, but I doubt it. Plus he will only improve.

Maybe he would be a good player in trading for Reddick to be able to add Reddick for only about $10M more to the cap without having Budda's contract on the books seems like a wise move. It would not hurt my feelings having Reddick put Purdy's health at risk for two games in 2024.
