Finally Reddick has requested a trade from the Jets. This could now start some dialogue with the Jets. Keep fingers and toes crossed.

This team needs a pass rusher but he's going to want 25-30 mil/ year right? Who cares! We have tons of cap space, HR is still one of the premier edge rushers. Sign him to 3 year deal, he will get us the sacks and heavy pressure.

This team needs a pass rusher but he's going to want 25-30 mil/ year right? Why? Current contract was $14M base salary with 250K Workout Bonus plus 500k incentives.

He might want to come back to the cardinals. But if he did that the price was reasonable I'm all for it.

I could see a new deal getting him around $22 million a year. Would we want to sign him for a three year contract, and then have Reddick and Ojulari opposite each other the next two years?

I wouldn't rule out drafting a DT or Edge early next year too. BJ has missed time due to knee injuries 2 years in a row. Not sure if we could rely on him being available.

Of course he does. His agent also knows he won’t get that. There were three big OLB potential 10 sack guys in this free agency, and they got $25-27 million. But they are three years younger than him, so he won’t get that deal. He’s getting $14 million now, and is on a team he doesn’t want to be on with a bad relationship between ownership/GM and him. I contend he wants $6-8 million more than his current contract, for at least three years. He is 30 now and likely has 3 more good years in him. He has big sack numbers in all of his last four years. The questions for us are: 1. Would he return to the team that drafted him and honestly played him at the wrong position? Did he burn a bridge with the organization? My take is things have changed here, and Gannon is the coach..las his D coach with the Eagles, who got the most out of Reddick. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has lots of friends and a coach he loves here in the Valley, and would love to play for Gannon and a rising Cardinals team with a great need at OLB and a new GM. 2. Are we going for it this year, or keeping our cap ($) and trade ($ and 2025 picks) powder dry for one more season? I see us as perhaps a .500 team, which means we have a shot to exceed that and make a run at playoffs. We have the third most available cap right now with over $30 million and the MOST cap in 2025. We can afford him, and afford him for 3-4 years where he could still be a game changing OLB. But next year is supposed to be a strong OLB draft and we may be content with saving all the money and picks for a huge push next season. Jets are saying they will not trade him, but of course they would say that. They won’t cave for him on a contract, as they have two other starters wanting new contracts who are in camp, and caving to the hood out would send a terrible message. So either he caves and plays at $14 million or they get nothing but another year of control over a disgruntled player. Teams end up trading guys like that. They gave up a conditional 3rd pick. The conditions clearly won’t be met if he doesn’t play. Offer them a conditional 4th and they may take the small loss to get rid of an embarrassing problem.

There will still be some front office staff who were around when Reddick played for the Cards. If they can vouch for his attitude, then I would expect someone will ask his agent what they are really looking for. Then, if that sum of money is sensible and his presence would be seen as a positive when developing Robinson's development, then it seems a pretty good option. As fans we have seen what he can do first hand when they finally moved him outside. There is little doubt having him back would upgrade the Cards in a position of major need.

Pound sand at that price ... very recent edge rushers who are comparable to Reddick in skillset are Montez Sweat and Danielle Hunter. The latter is the same age as Reddick and signed with the Texans on a 2 yr. $49M contract. Montez Sweat who is 2 yrs younger than Reddick signed for 2x of Hunter but the exact same APY of $24.5M. This is the ballpark for Reddick IMO especially considering much younger talent like Brian Burns and Josh Allen both recently signed for $28.25M APY. Reddick at his age should not be shopping in that neighborhood. Belac is correct that Michael Carter RB as a trade chip is not enticing enough for the Jets who are set at RB however the Pats don't really have a RB2 after R. Stevenson. Pats are apparently taking calls for Judon (who does turn 32 in 2 days) and in 2023 he did average a sack per game before his year was cut short with a torn bicep. The Patriots have a history of trading guys for picks/younger players once a player gets to be around age 31 or so. Pats are in a similar position as Cardinals last year where an overhaul of their roster including gathering picks to replace older players should be a priority. Pats want to develop Drake Maye and if Stevenson goes down their running game will really suffer with their lack of depth in the RB room. Since Jeremy Fowler is reporting about several teams calling the Pats for Judon's services, Monti could definitely be one of those GM's.

No, he is pushing 30 and already a distraction to his team. Dont need to pay a bunch of money to one guy, let them give the other guys more playing time. Just stay the course and keep looking for talent through the draft. Now, if this was like year 4 of the rebuild and the culture was set and they were a playoff team, I wouldnt mind them going after Reddick, just too early IMO.

Jets general manager Joe Douglas said the team has no intention of granting Reddick his wish.
“We have informed Haason that we will not trade him, that he is expected to be here with his teammates and that he will continue to be fined per the CBA if he does not report,” Douglas said in a statement issued by the Jets and shared on social media. “
