Good The backup defensive players effort...tackling and the secondary engaging in run defense. Darius Robinson debut. RB Carter had another good game. RT C Jones debut.
Bad The Adams debut...he has a starting point to build on. He had too many mental errors.
Ugly The Saints starters (offense in particular). Wilkinson attempting to play LT. Leaky was a nice description of his play.
It was bad to ugly for the fans who want to see the Cards starters. It was good the amount of real snaps players got who are fighting for a spot.

Good:
Tune has improved significantly vs last year
RB room looks solid, Carter especially.
Run blocking is pretty good.
Starling Thomas might be legit
Bad:
Pass rush at edge. We might have something with Xavier Thomas thoug
Ugly:
LG is still terrible.

The Cardinals are who we thought they were. They still need help at left guard and where's the pass rush going to come from?
Now's the Time when I think Monty really earns his stripes. There has to be the left guard out there somewhere who's going to be cut that would be better than our backups. It's up to him to find him. Going to be much tougher to find the pass rusher. I'm thinking it's the Cardinals heading to the regular season Buddha Baker is going to have to have an all pro year because he or another safety is going to have to put pressure on opposing quarterbacks to supplement the pass rushers we have.
We know that gardeck will give 100% effort. I think we also have to hope that Darius Robinson just quickly to NFL offensive lineman it is able to at least get pressure on the quarterbacks if not sex.

Did the Cards play their starting LG against the Saints? One player who may be the 2nd string LG did play against the Saints. Colon played C and played well and is in the mix with Gaines as backup C/G. Although the Cards didn’t play the starting OL players they got the backup options plenty of reps. Now the staff is closer to having the information to decide who they keep on the active roster. I do not see the need to look for another LG… they picked the one they are going with early in FA and he is a fit with the rest of the OL players. The edge has a opportunity to get a roster cut from another team eventually.

They know who the majority of the starting players are going to be. These games are for sorting thru the pretenders for contenders to back up the starters or even start themselves filling holes. JMO...

It is still not a good look when your backups perform poorly against the other team's backups. I sincerely hope those in commented that the Cardinals starting offensive line is going to be great and I sincerely hope they make it through the entire season without missing any games.

They know who the majority of the starting players are going to be. These games are for sorting thru the pretenders for contenders to back up the starters or even start themselves filling holes. I haven't watched any action or looked at the play stats, but here's the ROTB's article (PFF Grades on Offense) - www.revengeofthebirds.com/2024/8/12/24218783/no-16-ari-14-cardinals-pff-grades-on-offenseSo, very broad brush assessment on the OL - Contenders Rising - Jackson Barton (T) and Marquis Hayes (G) Contenders Falling - Elijah Wilkinson (T) and Dennis Daley (G) Still two games left in pre-season. - Over here such fixtures are denoted as 'Friendlies'. I don't think there will be too much friendliness displayed, a lot of these guys are playing for the futures in the NFL and, therefore, big money is at stake.

...and the OL rankings after the Saints game: warning this is a three-round contest, hence time for things to change. - I note Walter Mitchell is keeping his powder dry (for his 53-roster nominations) until after the third pre-season game, which is sensible - www.revengeofthebirds.com/2024/8/11/24217996/what-would-your-cardinals-depth-chart-look-like-for-the-colts-game-heres-mineBack-up OL-men (based on the first round) are as follows - LT - Christian Jones LG - Isaiah Adams C - Trystan Colon RG - Marquis Hayes RT - Jackson Barton This doesn't account for either Jon Gaines II (G/C) or Kelvin Beachum (T), hence the final listing is still TBD. - I think all of this illustrates that there is some serious competition going on for a coveted place on the main roster, and for those who don't succeed, then the PS.
