Great game for evaluation purposes, no starters played. MHJ was in for a cameo at 3 snaps. DRob will certainly be in DLine rotation and he looked great. No starting OL in game, this allowed great pressure from their starters. But, with all of that we did have some solid play from Rabbit, the cb’s in general, XT might be surprise of game with quick pass rush, XW looks good at wr.

I'm impressed by HC Gannon. Good presser. He's got so much energy!!! He treated the NO @ ARZ PS game like a regular season game, expecting the best prepared players and staff--including himself! Did he imply that a lot was accomplished within the organization that was not seen on the field since January? Or did imagine that reference? I think Gannon is mostly pleased by what he saw from the backup's last night. Some guys buried on the roster shined. Sure, there were some errors and a few misses by the backups. That's part of their game. But overall, Gannon like what he saw. The Indy showdown will be another smart, high-energy, and violent game. The men and boys will be separated. The growth process continues to August 30th. We got something special in this Cardinals team for 2024.

After the game, JG was impressed (as I was) with Darius Robinson going up against the Saints 1st teams but he also stated the OL was "leaky." My assessment with a stock up/down evaluation was: Stock UP:- Michael Carter RB -- who will be the 4th running back Demercado or Dallas ?
- RABBIT -- flashed especially reading his keys on running plays or RB's out of the backfield - very fast.
- 2023 Draft Class: Stills - Tune - Pappoe. I have heard positive things coming out of TC on Gaines but did he play ?
- 2023 Waiver pickup Roy Lopez looked good being disruptive and the 2024 DL will definitely be much improved from 2023 DL which featured Phil Hoskins as a started and tonight he had one of the very costly 5 yd penalties on the Saints last drive.
- CB's - JG cut his teeth in the coaching profession being a secondary coach and it shows up in Starling Thomas - Clark - Hall (Hall might be a sneaky pickup by Monti as in 2022 he played every game (including 9 starts) for the Falcons. Of course I want to see Garrett Williams and Melton though JG is sitting starters for these pre-season games so I hope to hear good things out of INDY from the scrimmages this week.
- Xavier Thomas - flashed with good "get off" and looked fast.
- Darius Robinson - disruptive force against the Saints first teamer ... could actually vie for NFL Defensive Rookie of Year.
- I mentioned a couple of days ago that WR Xavier Weaver was flashing at TC to gain one of the 6 WR slots for the 53 man roster -- can't say the same thing for late round draft pick WR Palmer.
- WR Chisena had a VERY good game and has probably solidified himself on the PS.
Stock Down:- QB Desmond Ritter - OL didn't help but other than his running ability didn't show much. Paul Calvisi and Darren Urban thought Tune was outperforming Ridder during TC and tonight's game only furthered the separation between the 2 backup QB's.
- 2024 3rd Round Draft Pick - OL Adams. In college he played a lot of tackle this past year so I expected a LOT more ability to move his feet in pass protection; however that was NOT on display during the game.
- TE Whiteheart - dropped an easy ball that would have gained 20 yds or so and would have driven the Cardinals deep enough to at least get 3 points.
- Refs - back judges below a couple of PI calls that if the game had been a regular season one with Cards losing at the end ... fans would have been livid.
P.S. Just like last year, Hollywood Brown during the Chiefs pre-season games despite being out there with limited snaps. Out of KC he might have a AC Joint injury in his shoulder which could put his playing game #1 of the season in jeopardy.

So as I mentioned last night, worried about the oline giving up too many sacks. Yes, its preseason and no starters. But went back over the video on the 4 sacks. This is what I saw:
Ridder First Sack #65 Wilkinson. He looked so slow, the defensive player made a quick move and the OL was still stuck in his original position as the DL went past him. I mean, that was bad.
Ridder Second Sack The second sack was on Ridder. He just doesnt look at his progressions and just takes off and got tripped up at the LOS
Tune First Sack #67 OL Whiffed on the defensive player who got an inside line to the QB. #74 tried to shed his blocker to help, but the guy was already past him and a easy sack on Tune
Tune Second Sack #78 OL. This guy made the wrong read, the LB came up and showed blitz and he just didnt pick him up. He still tried blocking down on the DL player and left the LB free for the sack. The other DL guy in on the sack, he did a twist with the other DL and #71 OL disengaged and let him through. That was just bad all around on the oline. Just didnt seem to know what they were doing with their assignments. Its like they were stuck with the original assignment and didnt know how to adjust on the fly. So basically the backups need some work, thats it. But the starters need to not let this happen. If we want KM to have a good year, he cant be scrambling for his life all the time.

It is hard to get a real good feel since the majority of starters and some rotational players never played. The second string OL guards and Wilkenson playing LT was what JG called leaky. Colon had a good day at C. Adams had some bad mental reps and looks like PS level so far, Wilkenson can be cut IMO. Jones at RT played okay...he has a good base as his first start and Colon proved to be serviceable.
Carter needs to be on the active roster when cut time comes.
Murphy at DT got several snaps even in the first quarter. Robinson and Rabbit had the best two rookie performances on defense. Unfortunately, Cam Thomas showed little with several snaps. XT had glimpses of brilliance. The 2nd string DL looked better than the starting DL in 2023.
Secondary across the board looked better. They had a willingness to contribute in the run game defense and S Thomas jumped a throw and missed a pick six.
I know Tyrek Smith is on the roster now...I will be looking for his performances going forward.
Tip had his welcome to the NFL and I do not need to see Whitheart at TE any longer. McBride, Higgins, Tip and Volelek are the best top 4 IMO. like the TE position and the player options in 2024. Unlike JV, I like Tip and where he was picked and he has a solid future in the NFL.

The one you rightfully called out are fighting for a spot and did not have good enough performances. The top six and Colon and C Jones look like the top eight OL players so far IMO. It doesn't look like Wilkinson has a future in the desert so far defiantly not at tackle.

I thought 7th round pick Davis CB had a good day as well as Hall...S Thomas looks like a solid rotational CB.

Your post got me wondering....has Bernhard Seikovitz(sp?) ever sniffed the field? He played pre-season 2023 and yesterday...he is big but not as dynamic as Vokelek...dynamic really doesn't apply to either of these two players, but was the best way to describe the difference in two similar looking players.

With the top 5 OL players...Beach and C Jones would be the back up T options so far and Colon and Gaines the G/C options at back up. To think the Cards have a serviceable OL with 7 players not playing is a positive testamate for the new staff.

Out of KC he might have a AC Joint injury in his shoulder which could put his playing game #1 of the season in jeopardy. I do not believe they need to carry 4 RB’s on the roster. I believe they can put both Demarcado and Dallas on the PS. If one gets snatched up (not super likely) it will not be the end of the world. Rather keep an extra Olineman. Rabbit plays fast and hard. Excited for his future. I have been saying for awhile that I hope Weaver makes the team. I would keep him over Pascal. Palmer is probably headed for the PS. I liked the CB play. Love how they are developing Starling Thomas. Darren Hall is listed as a safety and made himself known as well. Great hustle and around the ball often. Noticed Xavier Thomas on a play and need to rewatch and focus on him more. Tune has a whole year in the offense over Ridder. Ridder got a little better as the game went and protection improved. Interesting to see if he will be more consistent. His best throw was dropped unfortunately for him. I am not sure what this staff sees in Wilkinson. His resigning was baffling as I felt he showed us all who he is. Looks the part, but man, he is just not good. No water what position you put him at. Rather have a young guy that can develop take that roster spot. Need to watch again today as I had some distractions going on, curious to see what new thoughts I come up with.

This is what I saw of him...it sort of reminded me of Murray in his first season...In his first season...Murray was doing the same thing Ridder was doing yesterday. When Tune came in...I liked that he went through his progressions and was not trying to run the ball like Ridder...the times that Tune did run, he still threw the pass...except for several times...
When Kyler started his second season...he quit trying to run as often as he did his first season...in fact Kyler played so much better his second season that he was selected to the Pro Bowl...
I also did see that Tune was more accurate than Ridder...I am wondering if Ridder can actually become more accurate on his throw...though he did not have an interception yesterday...last season he had 12 TD's and 12 Interceptions...that is not a good ratio...
