Monti is doing his job in August. The roster turmoil will continue into September. I like Lawson over Hollins, if MO asked for my opinion.
I don't see much if anything gained if these FAs are signed. None really impress me. They are well past prime and need jobs.

None really impress me. They are well past prime and need jobs. The fact they worked out Lawson and Hollins is interesting ... I wonder if Hollins is being looked at as a WILB if JG/Rallis are looking at Mack Wilson getting a number of snaps in games at edge. The other day it was pointed out that on a couple of practice snaps Darius Robinson and Mack Wilson were the outside "edge" pass rushers on the opposite side of the defensive formation. IMO the Saints PS game and the Colts scrimmages (the next 6 days or so) will signal for JG/Monti how much of a need is there at edge and Mack Wilson's effectiveness at QB pressure from the edge. This may dictate whether the next Cards signing is at Edge or ILB. NOTE: I found this little tidbit on Lawson from a Jets website as they were pondering if Lawson would be brought back this season. When reading the bolded section, keep in mind Lawson is only age 28 and is fully recovered from his back injury: At his peak, Lawson was a quality pass rusher, who led the entire NFL in quarterback knockdowns in the season before he signed for the Jets [2022]. In 2022, the Jets got to see him at something like his best as he racked up seven sacks. In 2023, he barely got a chance to play as he began the season in a reserve role after having been limited by a back injury, so he may have still been capable of that kind of production, but simply never got the chance to get into game shape.

See my green text (has nothing to do with Jets colors). I'm a back injury victim. Operations done in 1998, 2021, and 3 so far in 2024. I'm likely to have a 4th surgery involving decompression and then fusion this month. All work done at the L5 disk area. The disk is gone, turned to puddy-like goo. I hope Lawson has a fully recovered back. "Fully recovered" at 28-years old has a way of becoming unrecovered in an athlete's life later. I affirm that!
