You will hear all training camp about so and so playing "unbelievable" , "can't believe we got this guy", Fans "this guy is going to be a star" "wow, what athleticism" " we might go undefeated this year".
It's why I pay little attention anymore to training camp. I've heard too many years of bullshyt. Training camp and pre season is some of the most overrated content in all of sports. It's such a brutal sport that you can't really tell much until the bright lights of the regular season get turned on.
I'll read a little here and there on twitter and browse this forum during camp (mainly for injury news). That being said I haven't been this excited for a long time about the cards. I think Kyler is going to be good/great and we got the right coaches/management in place.
See you in about a month.

I am waiting until a couple pre-season games but more importantly - first hand reports from the JOINT practices with the Colts. Colts have playoff aspirations and the one-on-one competitions all over the field against a good AFC team will let us know and properly temper our enthusiasm. In fact these practices are more important for evaluation of the 1st and 2nd level depth chart guys.
Last years practice was a debacle as the coaching staff and observers quickly figured out Colt McCoy arm was shot which is whey the Vikes defense dominated in those practices.

See you in about a month. Spot on. I have been happy to see the consistent messages from different players about the culture and reports about Kyler taking things seriously, which were lacking in previous seasons. Gannon seems to be running things well. No off field drama, knock on wood.

Oh yeah, Im excited about the rebuild, but also understand this is only year 2. I would be surprised if they had a winning record by the end of the season. Definitely not looking at playoffs. But still happy on how this is progressing.

I couldn't give you more of a thumbs up. I absolutely ignore training camp and pre-season chatter. It's meaningless. There are so many training camp heroes that contribute nothing in the regular season.
For that matter, I also don't buy the hype post the draft either. Been on this forum since 2007, and there hasn't been a draft that the forum did not love and I'm talking the atrocious and infamous bad drafts like 2016 and 2017. Every year, we have an amazing draft according to the fans and by the end of the season, we are talking about next years' draft

But still happy on how this is progressing. Yeah, you and I are in the minority on this opinion. I think most think we are finishing with a winning record this year or making the playoffs this year. I don't think we are making the playoffs until year 4 of the rebuild. The team was just that bad and that deficient in talent. Years of poor drafting by Keim left the cupboard bare

Agree 100%. The purpose of TC and PS is to test concepts and readiness. Avoid devastating player injuries. The team has to grind it out for 17 games and have enough strength left to battle in the playoffs.

a couple of examples of what I'm talking about: Brandon Williams. Keim called him one of the "greatest athletes he's ever seen", when they opened camp. he was then absolutely torched on game one of the preseason. And the fanboys ignored it and continued to hype him. Keim also drafted 3 WR one year (can't remember their names (I believe there was a Keenan and a Johnson) but I think one was cut right away and the other two were duds). Keim was such a disgrace I love how this regime seems to play it low key. They seem legit.

At least with the core group of guys who have been here a while.

And I highly suggest fans watch this video. No over hyping, just going over each position and the ups and downs.

There are way too many things, all going on at once, to just turn a blind eye. To top it off a great deal of it is 180 degees off from what we have come to expect from the team we have lived and breathed for decades now. It's as though Michael Bidwill woke up one day and had a Costanza style "come- to-Jesus moment. "From now on? I'm gonna do the OPPOSITE"!!! .....and by God if it's not working. At least from my angle it looks like it is. Last but not least from Michael? He's stepped aside to allow MO, DS, and JG to "handle the football operations". Exactly what many have prayed for, for years!

Remember now, the Cards were picked last year to win ZERO games. Yeah. They were supposed to LOSE every. Single. Game. For 2024 the "safe bet" said they would only win 6 games. Now it has eased forward some to 7+. I would remind those folks that this team has picked 11 players out of the first 3 rounds of the last 2 drafts. And The guy selecting these players is not Steve Keim. All in all, MO and Co. has selected the same amount of players out of the last 2 drafts as would normally be taken in 3 drafts. So, there's that. That is part of what happens when MB has a EUREKA! moment and decides he's gonna do the opposite of what he's normally done. The funny part to me is this: The nat'l football media is so used to being their utterly lazy selves and merely using the Az Cardinals as a punching bag Ad nauseum, that they do not even really see what is going on yet!

While camp big plays by random players practicing may not give us credible info on the future of our Cardinals, there are some things that make me excited on the business side.
We are now 3rd in most 2024 cap space available at $35 million, and then 1st in 2025 at $87 million. 2024 can be used on free agents who get released during camp, on our #3 waiver wire position players through the first half of the season, on re-signings or extensions of current players, or rolled into next year. Kyler’s contract no longer looks ridiculous and is no longer impossible to get out of without causing considerable long term harm. This is all great news on the business end for a successful rebuild.
If we can play .500 ball this season with a young team at QB, TE, RB and Oline as well as defense, we are in great shape going into 2025-26.

Aside from the details already mentioned that we see shaping this Cardinal team, the emergence of Jonathon Gannon is a multi faceted factor that one would think should bear considerable attention. The "team first" mantra is a big deal with Gannon. In other words, get on board. There's your option. The value of that mindframe CANNOT be overstated. It's WOVEN into the very fabric of this team, and the end result is a very different one than what is typical. It just can't be overstated. Also the position coaches that Gannon has all echo the "serving the players" line enough that we know it's more than lip service. It's all very different from previous regimes and the last one in particular that left rookies in limbo while favoring veteran players, essentially hamstringing their development. Repeatedly. The last thing I'll mention here is the games our team DID win last season were eye opening. We all know this. It was on full display against the Eagles. Gannon was crafty and tenacious and determined. Cannot wait to see his efforts this season, along with Petzing/Rallis.

Not to get carried away, but I'll finish up my string of posts with this one... I will not be surprised to see a few extra guys ultimately saying goodbye during final cuts, as I pretty much expect MO to add a few of the castoffs from other teams. He's probably licking his chops expecting teams to be forced to cut certain players he wants. Nice time to be in a good position to take advantage. As DH has mentioned, the team is in great shape as far as the salary cap, they can spend a little or a lot if they feel like it. I don't remember the last time it was like that. I do not expect any kind of a spending spree this year, but one never knows.
