Folks, I give you Cardinals Quarterback Charley Johnson.
Here is the list of his achievements My Word
1. New Mexico St Basketball scholarship 2. A walk on on the New Mexico football team 3. 1959 and 1960 Sun Bowl MVP Number #33 retired 4. Graduated New Mexico St, 4.0 average 5. B.S. in Chemical engineering 6. Chicago Cardinals 10th rd draft pick 7. Chargers drafted him as well. 8. 1963 Pro Bowl' 9. 1964 NFL Passing leader in Passing attempts completion and yardage. 10. 1967 Army drafted in ROTC became a 2nd Lieutenant Army Reserve 11. Worked for NASA played in the NFL got his PHD all at the same time **** 12. Completed his Doctorate degree in Chemistry 13. Became a Sportscaster as well Daily Radio show 14. Raised a family 2 children 15. Traded to Houston Oilers 1970 16. Broken collarbone 17. numerous injuries 1970-1972 18. Traded to the Denver Broncos 19. Age 35 20 Tds 3rd in the NFL 17 Ints 20. Retired 1975 15th NFL QB all time 21. Charley Johnson became a college professor head of the Chemical Engineering Department 22. Had his own company Johnson Compression Services 23. Interim coach at New Mexico St
Charlie Johnson will be 86 years old on 11/22 share same birthdate as yours truly FLCF.

FLCF, this is a gem of a video and thanks for posting it! I remember CJ but only because my Grandfather loved talking about him. I wouldn't attend my first St. Louis Cardinal football game 'til I was 11. Jim Hart was under center. Great to see the jersey's and the infusion of "oh yeah!" I remember that player when I was just..(insert age).

What is amazing about CJ to me is his durability for the last five years in the NFL (1 year at HOU, 4 years at DEN). From 1971-1975, the seasons were 14 games. CJ missed just 2 games during that 5 year stretch.
What QB can claim that feat in today's NFL climate? I argue, NONE!
CJ retired after the Broncos' 1975 season. The Broncos' players loved CJ. He was indeed smart and taught a lot of young men how to play the game at the pro level.
