He was a standout before signing with the Cards. Zay Jones, who has played as a true #2 WR and had good numbers in 2022 and injuries in 2023 and the Jags moved on from him. He had the opportunity to sign with the Chiefs as well as others and chose the Cards. A significant change from the SK era, players as FAs are choosing AZ over the popular teams based on Monti and JG being respected by the players and the ability for them to communicate a wanting of players they are targeting and showing them a perceived role for the prospected addition.
I liked Zay telling K1 that despite having the means, he appreciated K1 paying for the LA trip and team building.
He also complimented MHJ and Wilson and looks to be in line for WR #3 and Dortch being in the mix at WR, RB and returner. Quite a WR room and TE room as well as RB room. The OL is big and deep and Gaines made his appearance and is big long and mobile. Brown is a Hjalte mini-me a couple of inches shorter but same build and LG is his position to lose.
I like some of the OL kick out from the interior to assist the T position in pass pro, it looks like a OL player pulling in the run game and an extra look for the defense.

Expanding on Zay's comments about Mike Wilson. He said Wilson was a hidden gem for him. He said he is one of the most fundamentally sound WRs in the league. High praise from a vet WR. He admitted he was unaware of Mike Wilson before being with the Cardinals.

Easy enough to see Zay's unawareness of Michael Wilson. Wilson is often injured and missing lengths of a season going back to his Stanford days. No doubt Wilson has NFL talent to be a solid pro receiver. He showed all the signs during Kyler's return last season.
IF Wilson stays on the field and MHJ lives up to his NFL potential, this is a #1-#2 WR tandem that could propel the Cardinal offense into the top 10 or higher in the upcoming 2024 season.

Thanks for this article link -- I knew from listening to JV's podcasts from training camp about the WR room but they've also have been pointing to CB's Garrett Williams and Max Melton as having a good camp. The fact Starling Thomas is having a very good camp means the CB room with Murphy-Bunting, Melton, Williams, Thomas could be a strength. It seems a lock that 2024 3rd round pick Elijah Jones will make the 53 man roster so Kei'Trel Clark could be pushed down to PS. I am getting excited the defense could actually go from 31st (2023) to maybe in the 17th-19th range for 2024. There is definitely an upgrade in the CB room with defensive sieve Marco Wilson no longer on the roster. The LB room is better because Mack Wilson IMO is going to show up as Monti's best FA value pickup for 2024 similar to Froholdt in 2023. The big question mark is whether this defense can generate over 45 sacks this season.

The big question mark is whether this defense can generate over 45 sacks this season. Thanks for the insight. I found some positive humor in your post focusing on CBs and it ends with the need for 45 sacks. I know the DBs influence the ability to get sacks. I would like to add a bit about the DL as well. As per the CBs, the focus by the coaching staff on creating turnovers is influencing who in the CB room will see more playing time. Bunting, Williams and Melton are the top options and currently as being better on the outside and ability to create turnovers, Williams is ahead of Melton. These three are solid at nickel and outside...so are interchangeable and give the coaches ability to match each CB up with specific WRs, no matter if the WR is in the slot or lined up outside. As per the DL, it is more improved than the media have given it credit. Bigger, stronger and faster. Thomas had a tipped pass that led to a INT. In order for the defense to get a high amount of sacks the DL and defense have to shut down the run. The DL has this ability now. It is possibly the best improved position group.

Thanks for the link - offense and defense are improved but his last takeaway is particularly interesting to me: "It's been fun to see Mack Wilson deployed as a versatile chess piece at times on defense, similar to what New England did last season. He's lining up as the other interior LB next to Kyzir White while also sometimes pushing up as an edge player."

Zay Jones didn’t come here to just watch MW and the Torch from the sidelines. He hasn’t dropped a single pass to my knowledge. He appears much better than expected. He is looking at serious wr 2 and wr 3 time. The wr room is appearing very solid indeed.
CB room is crammed with young talent, unproven and untested. But, a guy Starling Thomas V appears to not want to go gently into the night. He was of course a undrafted free agent by Lions last year and picked up by us. He ended up playing several games last year. He has used that starting experience and his gym rat mentality to certainly flash so very in camp. Might be the best CB in camp so far! So, totally unexpected on my part and adds to the absolutely fiercest competition in that CB room.

Even Bunting needs to be on his A game. The young lions are hungry.

ST V with a pick in practice today. Who was the QB? Murray? Ridder? Tune? It doesn't matter today. All players must get their flaws worked out now. Sept 8th matters.

It is interesting that when Froholdt went out from practice after getting "dinged" that Evan Brown played center and rookie Isaiah Adams stepped into the LG spot on the first team OL. Furthermore, according to PHNX Sports' members who were at practice, the 2nd team LG was none other than 2023 rookie coming back from injury = Jonathan Gaines. This is interesting to me that this early in TC the two mid round draft picks of the last 2 drafts were the players running with the top 2 line groups and NOT the myriad of vet journeyman guys who tried to play LG for this team last year who are back trying again to make the 53-man roster It appears all these vets are behind the "young bucks." It appears from several reports that the 2024 draft class could be an A+ draft class with the top 3 guys quite possibly being future Pro Bowlers. On the DL, young guys Darius Robinson and Dante Stills from multiple reports are having excellent camps so far. In the secondary, Murphy-Bunting, Garrett Williams and Max Melton (I could add Starling Thomas also) appear to be locking down the top two outside corners with Williams a virtually lock as the starting slot corner. Of course the WR room with MHJ, Wilson, Dortch and Zay Jones are turning heads. Excellent article below on TC with a note on MHJ and this offense (Excerpt from link below): "Harrison has also lined up in the slot with some regularity, including during Monday’s padded practice. While he profiles as a true outside receiver, being able to play in the slot is crucial for an elite modern receiver. “If you put a good player at the same spot at every down in this league, defenses are gonna hone in,” offensive coordinator Drew Petzing said. “Whether they dictate the coverage or force the matchup.” Among the 36 receivers who saw at least 100 targets last season, only Seattle’s D.K. Metcalf saw fewer than 15 targets in the slot. The top 10 receiving leaders averaged 50.8 slot targets. In the early days of camp, Harrison hasn’t been the only Cardinals’ receiver to move all over the field, but he is by far the most notable." Training Camp standouts
