Good Morning Forum Members and Guests,
What a season the Arizona Cardinals should have in store for us.
I for one need to see improvement on the field before I anoint this
2024 Cardinals team as an NFL playoff team. Things coming out of training camp
have us heading in the right direction. There are a few Questions that do bother me
as a long time Cardinal Fan. The first was why did we wait until after the draft to
let some of the scouts go including Josh Scobey. Should that have been done long ago?
Another is there seems to be a theme of going with younger players with the coaching regime.
But we do have cap space left just over $35 million. Now being selfish for a good reason
this coming season. I would like us to button up places like Edge and guard and corner.
There are players out there who can be traded for as well. I am not talking about
retreads but someone who has something left in the tank. Markus Golden a few years ago
was a good example. We just might find the next Tony Jefferson who was a free agent safety
who became an All Pro.
We had a great selection of draft talent. The Cardinals having the largest
draft class in the NFL. Now its time to turn that quantity into quality players.
I am looking for big things from WR Marvin Harrison Jr and my biased personal favorite
RB Trey Benson. If we can keep developing our running game our defense will not be on
the field very long in games. Those three and outs of the past were killers for
wearing down our defense. Most teams are playing the pass in the NFL. Having a team
that runs the ball right down the field inside and out will destroy a good defense.
Walter Mitchell's link below shows the Cardinals second with a 91.9 PFF grade.
That despite having the run game ranked 26th in the same PFF rankings. Mitchell
goes on to breakdown the Cardinals season and his thoughts on how to make the
Cardinals a better team.
On defense, we saw flashes with guys like B.J. Ojulari(edge)
and Garrett Williams (cb). We need some players to step up
as there has been a lot of turnover at almost every position.
This can be a good thing but not really as it either shows
lack of drafting good talent and/or poor coaching.
The results on the field will speak for themselves.
My expectations are not that high 8-9 would be a good season.
Going into the playoffs is a realistic reach but quite possible
if every one of our players buys into the system 100 %.
Let's all enjoy the season for what it is great entertainment.
I will be there with all of you. LET'S GO CARDINALS
