FLCF, thanks for posting the season's first mini Game Week Thread. I am ready for the 2024 season to begin this next weekend! As long as QB Josh Allen is the Bills starting QB, the Bills are a top 5 NFL team. The Cardinals will not overlook Allen and the Bills. Likewise, the Bills know the Cardinals are dangerous. With a beat-down roster, the Cardinals knocked off the Cowboys, Steelers, and Eagles in 2023. The NFL and media took note those premier team's losses to the upstart Cardinals. Other teams knew then that something was right about the Cardinals attitude at those victories. The Cardinals are a lot more dangerous in 2024. About the Bills, I don't see QB Allen doing much work leading up to their home opener on Sept 8th. The team will save his capability for real games. I see Allen doing a lot more work as a running threat v. the Cardinals D. Some of the most dangerous weapons he had available in prior years are now gone. I laugh at the prospect of Isabella being a Bills WR. Maybe he will finally shine. I also will never forget that Allen is big and fast. He can stiff arm any LB and outrun a lot of the DBs. He will test every facet of the Cardinals D in this game in Sept. I give the Bills 2 points only because of home field. Otherwise the game is a toss-up for me. FLCF, please let us know if you need help with mini GWT and GDT posts. Standing by to assist. EZ

This seems like that trap game for both teams. At Tennessee Jones got 5 sacks and almost no more the rest of the year. This game could be similar. Cards roar out of gate. They'll need to not get to overconfident if they steal one in Buffalo. Their first 4 games could make or break them. 2-2 is almost a must start.

If the Cardinals don't put a lot of pressure on Allen they'll lose. It's not realistic to expect the new offensive line to gel immediately. Well I expect some growing pains even for Harrison Jr but there is a possibility he will have a boldin type game in his first game. I think we all want to see the Cardinals run the ball 35 to 40 times every game and utilize play action passing for long touchdown passes. 49 more days to go LOL

I think Josh Allen is good for a couple picks, like his 1st game last year. Maybe an up-and-coming star gets a pick 6 for the "D" & wins the game...

Our first game against the Buffalo Bills is going to give a pretty accurate idea of how good our team will be this season. If we win this game, it is a good start...I will not say great because without Stefon Diggs...their offense will take a huge drop in Offensive production...if you don't believe that...I understand...however...I compiled a list of their Skill position players and each of their 2023 Stats. I will not include Josh Allen in the list...because he is the heart of the team...you are going to be shocked at the Skill Position Players they have on their 90+ current roster...the only serious offensive threat the Bills have on their current roster is Josh Allen....
Buffalo Bills
Wide Receivers
Chase Claypool 2023 Stats Receiving Yards: 77 Touchdowns: 1
Keon Coleman Rookie...no NFL Stats
KJ Hamler 2022 Stats(no stats for 2023) Receiving Yards: 165 Yards Touchdowns: 0
Mack Hollins 2023 Stats Receiving Yards: 251 Yards Touchdowns: 0
Andy Isabella Zero Stats for 2023 while in Buffalo (We know about Isabella)
Xavier Johnson Rookie...no NFL Stats
Lawrence Keys Rookie...no NFL Stats
Curtis Samuel 2023 Stats Receiving Yards: 613 Yards Touchdowns: 4 Touchdowns
Khalil Shakir 2023 Stats Receiving Yards: 611 Yards Touchdowns: 2
Tyrell Shavers Rookie...no NFL Stats
Justin Shorter Rookie...no NFL Stats
Bryan Thompson Rookie...no NFL Stats
Marquez Valdes-Scantling 2023 Stats Receiving Yards: 315 Touchdowns: 1
____________________________________________________
Running Backs
James Cook 2023 Stats Rushing Yards: 1122 Yards Rushing Touchdowns: 2 Receiving Yards: 445 Yards Receiving Touchdowns: 4
Ray Davis Rookie...no NFL Stats
Darrynton Evans 2023 Stats Rushing Yards: 121 Yards Rushing Touchdowns: 1 Receiving Yards: 49 Receiving Touchdowns: 0
Frank Gore Jr. Rookie...no NFL Stats
Ty Johnson 2023 Stats Rushing Yards: 132 Yards Rushing Touchdowns: 0 Receiving Yards: 62 Yards Receiving Touchdowns: 1
_________________________________________________
Tight Ends
Zach Davidson Rookie...no NFL Stats
Reggie Gilliam 2023 Stats Receiving Yards: 3 Receiving Touchdowns: 0
Dalton Kincaid 2023 Stats Receiving Yards: 673 Yards Receiving Touchdowns: 2
Dawson Knox 2023 Stats Receiving Yards: 186 Yards Receiving Touchdowns: 2
Tre' McKitty 2023 Stats Receiving Yards: 0 Receiving Touchdowns: 0
Quintin Morris 2023 Stats Receiving Yards: 26 Yards Receiving Touchdowns: 1
So, I listed the yards and touchdowns of their current Skill Position Players...do you see anything that looks threatening? I don't. Of course, aside from Josh Allen. I truly believe we can win this game...depending on whether or not can be better than their defense...I will look at their defense to see how many points they allowed last season...
Of the stats above of their Skill Players currently on their roster...look at each of those players touchdowns last season...hmm...
I seriously think we have an excellent chance to win this game if and only if we can contain Josh Allen...not shut him down...just contain him...
The Bills no longer have Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis...their 2 top WR's from last season. _________________________________________________________________________
The other thing to consider is how good is their Defense?
These are the points allowed to their opponents last season....
Jets: 22 Raiders: 10 Commanders: 3 Dolphins: 20 Jaguars: 25 Giants: 9 Patriots: 29 Buccaneers: 18 Bengals: 24 Broncos: 24 Jets: 6 Eagles: 37 Chiefs: 17 Cowboys: 10 Chargers: 22 Patriots: 21 Dolphins: 14 Steelers: 17 Chiefs: 27
As you can see from above...their defense is pretty stout...they only allowed one game to exceed 30 points...that is very good. 8 games they allowed points in the 20's. 9 games they allowed only 18 points or less...
Can our revamped Offensive Skill Position players get us into the 20+ points against them? We probably would need to do that in order to win the game...
I am not listing their scores for each game last season...because we really have no idea how good or bad they will be this season because of the loss of Diggs and Davis their top offensive playmakers from last season.
I think we have a 60 to 70 percent chance to win this game but only if we can contain Josh Allen...and this is the reason:
Josh Allen 2023 Stats Passing Yards: 4306 Yards Passing Touchdowns: 29 Rushing Yards: 524 Yards Rushing Touchdowns: 15
He had a total of 44 Passing and Rushing Touchdowns...we have to contain him to win our first game...
Your thoughts on this game?
