Yet, Monti claims he added 5 starters in FA. Is it the PFF ratings the reason some may feel as though the CB, LB and two DL players are no more than role players? It was reported that we tried signing another guy as well for the Cornerback position. I think there is still a vacancy on the roster for a top quality perimeter defender, who will develop and become our long term CB1.

As per the guard position...Gaines and also Hayes are on the team as well as Colon who played well in 2023, Daley is still one of Monti's guys who also played better towards the end of the season. There are so many unknowns and possibilities when it comes to the O-Line, so (as the saying goes) 'don't rule anything in or anything out'. I've not completely given up on the idea of us drafting one of the top Tackles (especially if we traded down with Minnesota and acquired the additional first-round pick).

Isn't adding two DL starters a significant additions? With the terms of the contracts handed out, then the FO MUST consider these two are starter caliber players. By their NFL resumes it looks like the Cardinals overpaid the DL free agents. But Monti and Gannon seemed pretty clear that they identified these guys for a reason. My take is we will learn a lot this year about Monti and Gannon’s ability to identify and develop the talent they want. Sophomore year for last year’s draft class, who got a lot of playing time last year. A massive draft class this year. And a set of free agents that weren’t big names but coaching seems to feel good about.

Hope Springs Eternal HSE=NFL Draft Edit: Cards will trade the #4 for right trade, and there will be at least 2 offers made to the Cards to choose from.

The truth is our defense would have been much much better last year if we could have played the people that were the opening day starters. As they say availability is the best ability. Another thing that I would like to point out here is that in my humble opinion one of the main problems the Cardinal organization has had for decades is I've always had a few Superstar players but they've never really been solid on the entire roster with glaring weaknesses. If nothing else I think the free agents will lessening weaknesses quite a bit. What's the roster is at least decently solid everywhere then it's relatively easy to sprinkle in a few Superstar players here and there in free agency assuming you don't act like Steve and only sign aging players to one year deals.
