So…Prater’s last (2) kicks as a Cardinal…will go down in the books as misses. What if... Imagine the howls if that was the 1 kick that put the Cardinals into the 2023 playoffs, and Prater missed it wide right by inches! Well, he did miss it wide right by inches. The Cardinals didn't make the playoffs for a lot of other reasons. But... My question is: given everything else that is changing for the good within the entire franchise, and the high level of pressure ongoing to push and squeeze out all the roster flaws, can the team trust this guy to do his kicking job next year? Let's consider... Prater missed not 1, but 2 key kicks on Sunday. Either the 1st FG kick or 2nd FG kick would have done the job right--win the 5th game. Prater was directly responsible for 8 points (2 FGs, 2 XPs) on the scoreboard. He missed 6 points. That a total of 14 points in play by the Kicker in a tight game! Next season... The team cannot rely on the Kicker for 14 points per game. That's absurd. Fix the O/D. Score TDs. Then the team doesn't have to rely on a kicker to pull the team's butt out of the next game dumpster fire. I wanted Prater gone before this year. He had a heck of a year with the long ball, he does miss some easy ones at bad times. He played better than I expected. I would love to find a young replacement, but careful what you wish for.
