THE OFFICIAL GAME DAY THREAD CARDINALS @ COMMANDERS
Welcome to the start of the 2023 Arizona Cardinals Football Season On behalf of the Forum I would like to invite all NFL football fans
from not only here in the USA but from around the World to join us right here
and now for today's game. With so much conflict around the World, we have a place here
to get away from it all and just enjoy a game of NFL football. The only division here
is the NFC West Division Team Our Arizona Cardinals who travel to Washington to play the NFC East
Division Washington Commanders.
The sports media that follows the NFL is not giving us much of a chance. But
considering how badly the media coverage is these days We should care.
Case in point bad media coverage. Check this out
Now mind you we have not played the first game yet:
From Sportsnaut.com ( This will be their
last appearance on the Game Day Thread.)
Read on to find out why.
I am quoting the article
"NFL defense rankings 2023: Worst NFL defenses
32. Arizona Cardinals – Worst defense in NFL
The Arizona Cardinals have the worst NFL defense in 2023 and it will be evident in Week 1 against the
Seattle Seahawks. Arizona doesn’t have the edge rushers to collapse the pocket around Sam Howell and it’s not like the Washington Commanders offensive line is a strength. It’s going to be a long season for Jonathan Gannon’s defense and this year might prove his success was due to talent."
sportsnaut.com/nfl-defense-rankings/So we play Seattle week 1 and the Washington Commanders as well on the same day at the same time
Great work guys. Look for Cardinals newly signed QB Joshua Dobbs to start. Dobbs comes to us
from the Cleveland Browns where he was coached by Offensive Coordinator of the Cardinals
Drew Petzig. Washington was ranked 7th in total defense in 2022. They were 4th vs the pass and 11th vs the run.
James Conner could be in for a big day vs the Commanders.
Washington has put its offense in the hands of QB Sam Howell. The former
North Carolina Tar heel like Clayton Tune was a 5th rd pick in the NFL Draft.
PFF gave a ringing endorsement of Howell.
In his two preseason starts he threw for 3 TDS and O INTS. He passed for well over 67%
completion percentage. Below PFF has the article with preseason highlights.
www.pff.com/news/nfl-washington-commanders-qb-sam-howell-impressive-preseason This game with two young QBs has the potential to come down to a field goal.
The Cardinals have Matt Prater with his strong leg. Prater hit on 88% of his FG's
in 2022 and was 5-6 over 50 yds. Washington's Joey Slye may have a leg to match
and he was deadly accurate in 2022. He only missed
one field goal inside the 40. Slye hit of 13/14 <40. He was 4/6 over 50 yards.
Hard to expect a lot of scoring early in the season, especially with two young
signal callers. If the Lions can beat The Chiefs. I see no reason why the Cardinals
can't win for their underdog coach and their own Cardinals vs The World team. Cardinals 23-20
in a close one.
FLCF enjoy the game!
