JG couldn’t have been more plain vanilla. Ran straight base defense entire game. Not a single blitz that I can remember. No excuses there, in fact probably by design it exposed individual weaknesses.
Good things- first team OL was only in there a couple of series. Unit was solid and helped the run game. Connor looked great and ready to go. He needs to stay healthy. We may have found our RB2 in Ingram. He ran with some power and burst. Arias looks good, he catches well. He will struggle to make team, PS squad. Tune was under constant blitz pressure, his escapism was impressive. He avoided multiple sacks. His passing was usually rushed, so all things considered not too bad.
ZC had couple of pressures and is continuing his work in progress. Marco Wilson and Clark has some good coverage while in there. White looked very good as the “Mike”. D had couple of stops of Mahomes in the first 2 series.
Very few other positives from this game. I still can’t get out of my head that totally lackadaisical effort from Simmons on that QB TD run. I would have cut that dude in half at the 5 yard line. Simmons played like he didn’t care and had no interest in this game. Thought he was going to be great safety, the next couple of weeks to see how or if he wants to play football.

I rewatched that Simmons play vs. the QB TD several times. I tried to put myself in the Safety position and then put myself in the QB position.
Simmons. He ran as fast as possible to the projected impact point at the goalline. Give him credit for hustling hard. He then 'overran' the QB because the QB changed direction to avoid the massive Safety hit. *** I think Simmons was flagged 15 yards for a personal foul (using his helmet first) earlier in the game. If Simmons crushed the QB on the sideline after he was out of bounds and before the TD, and Simmons got a second personal foul, he would be ejected from the game and fined a wad by the NFL next week. So, I think Simmons showed us wisdom and caution vice aggression and power. Simmons saw everything and tried to cut off the QB. Fans were disappointed about the 'whiff.' I have no idea what Simmons was thinking but I doubt he 'whiffs' on the next QB run.
QB. He rolled out to the left when the DL got bunched up in the middle and no receiver was open for the play called. Because there was no DE/G/T on the outside, the QB ran for his life and got 10 yards free. The DBs were looking at the WRs and not the QB. That opened up more turf. The QB seemed surprised that he scored.
I did not watch the game. I only got the highlights this morning. I cannot comment on Simmons other plays. Thanks for your views though.

Jones looked good at tackle. He also helped secure one of our TDs via a push.
Dortch is a starter.

Cam Thomas, Sanders and BJ are the real QB threats on team based on last night’s performance. There were many double moves by KC receiving crew that were very successful with the QB having a clean pocket and no pressure. As you pointed out it exposed sub par coverage and lack of QB pressure by four man rush without the above players. I love Tune’s development so much I would rather have Bough start against the Commanders. Do not ruin Tune’s career by starting him too soon in the regular season. Colt is done and can not start. Monti has to sign some interior DL players. Even Stilles looked bad. Cam Thomas’ development is very important to the DL, he and Collins are DE options on third and long with Gardeck, Sanders and BJ playing edge. Collins and Thomas are the tweeners with speed to play edge and girth to play the interior DL on long yardage downs.

The backups at IOL didn't look so hot IMO. They were giving up some oressures. Waiting for the PFF grades...I don't want to watch that game again. Lol

We knew interior DL would be awful because it was our biggest need this year and we basically ignored it in the draft to sign more pass rushers and OL. That's fine and all but it highlights just how much we need to double dip that position next year.

McCoy is old school, and looks inside out, meaning he focuses on TE's first. When he first came here, he was one of the only QBs who made use of Ertz, unlike Murray. He does this because he has a noodle arm and can't make the hard outside throws. He's not likely to use Wilson as much and I don't think it's personal. He just works with what he's got. I haven't seen highlights but I'm willing to bet that most those WR throws he made were bubble screen or quick outside hitters and not 15 yard out deep out routes.

As well as the need in the draft. Seattle has had a interior DL problem and Niners have several 1st round picks playing at DL and Rams have Aaron Donald. Cards are miles behind the rest of the NFC west at interior DL.

I was not able to see the game live but watched it this morning (skipped most of the 4th qtr) AFTER viewing this fan forum a little bit and watching JV podcast from last night.
NEGATIVES: 1) Isaiah Simmons -- did the 15 yd "roughing" (KC receiver slips) penalty cause him to be tentative for the rest of the snaps ? I actually was afraid of this in the "new" NFL because a 6'4" guy coming at much smaller individuals is always going to look bad - 6'4" 242 lbs at high speed hitting 5'9" 175 lbs WR's. 2) Christian Matthew - didn't like his tackling vs. Broncos and it was worse last night. 3) Pass defense at one point allowed at least 18 pass completions in a row with both team's 2nd-3rd teams on the field ... yikes. 4) Colt McCoy -- can he not push the ball downfield as KC was putting 8 in the box a lot daring throws over 20 yds. 5) What the heck happened to two front 7 players that I expected to make an impact this season - Cam Thomas and Richard Lawrence ?? .. the latter who might be cut by 8/29.
POSITIVES: 1) LJ Collier and ZC -- JG/Monti braintrust looks like they've found something here. See comment above about Cam Thomas/Richard Lawrence ...DL needs to still more upgrading and should possibly be the #1 focus in the next off-season. 2) 1st team LB's - Kyzir White/Barnes/Woods all provided the defense with some "juice" while they were in there. 3) RB's - James Connor & Ingram. Played well and showed some tough running but RB room still needs an upgrade. 4) Punter Nolan Cooney - booming 60 yd punts
Clayton Tune - after reading this forum a little early this morning before I watched the game, I thought CT was going to be horrific when I finally sat down this AM to watch the game. Here is what I saw - KC DC "Spags" didn't really blitz McCoy but rather put eight (8) in the box because I believe Spagnola does not believe Colt can push the ball downfield; HOWEVER against CT, Spags did exotic blitzes which confused the 2nd team OL and CT had very few drop backs where he was able to stand in the pocket, step up and deliver the ball.
CT did not have an interception, had 2 TD's not count (Dortch scored but not counted on review & Baccellia with one called back to an egregious penalty), had AT LEAST 3 throwaways out of bounds when blitzed and got rid of ball so as NOT to take a loss including one where he looked like "Big Ben R" shaking a tackler off before saving his OL of a sack. Dortch dropped a corner TD in which CT put the ball into a pinhole on the right sideline of the end zone and Baccellia dropped a ball across the middle middle of the field which would have gained at least 25 yds. Additionally two more throws to Dortch on short out routes had VERY little separation as KC blitzed, corners played up tight anticipating the 7 yd out route. Overall I didn't think CT was that bad at all especially considering on how many dropbacks he was pressured AND he showed great athletic ability in picking up running yards as his OL broke down under the blitz.
P.S. I love Greg Dortch and I hope during the REGULAR season he is in motion to help get a free release from LOS but yesterday it appeared to me the KC secondary coach had their players sitting on the 7 yd out routes when run by GD & RM (5'7" receivers). This was coordinated with SPAGS blitzing Tune so the ball would need to get out quick. When Dortch got a free release and ran a crossing route, CT hit him in stride and Dortch scored though some crazy NFL review thought there was indisputable evidence to the contrary.
