Looking back at the Cardinals first game and loss
44-21 to the Chiefs
The Cardinals obviously were not ready to play
in the first game of the season. Patrick Mahomes
had all day to throw and took advantage of it to
pass for 360 yards and 5 TDS. He had a staggering
144 QB Rating with 30 comp-39 att.
Kyler Murray was 22-34 for 193 yards and 2 TDS
The Cardinals 4th quarter stats are somewhat
inflated since The Chief's had the game won early.
Murray was sacked only twice but was under pressure
for most of the game. On offense, WR Greg Dortch
7 rec./63 yds stood out as did Eno Benjamin who
averaged 7 yards on 4 carries.
The defense was no where in sight and not one player
played well except maybe Budda Baker. The had
no pass rush 0 sacks and when they did get a rush
on the QB, they could not contain Patrick Mahomes.
No one on the Cardinals could cover Travis Kelce.
He destroyed the Cardinals pass defense with
8 rec 121 yds and 1 TD. Clyde Edwards-Helaire
ran well averaging 6 yds per carry on 7 attempts.
But he was more dangerous catching the ball
out of the backfield where he scored 2 TDS.
The Cardinals started flat looked flat all day
Simmons and Collins were caught out of position
over and over on defense. It was also disappointing
that S Jalen Thompson did not have his best game.
The defensive line could not stop the run when K.C.
needed a 1st down. The Chiefs dominated
time of possession. One thing I found disheartening
was that K.C.'s kicker played hurt and kicked a 54 yd
field goal yet the Cardinals can't seem to find one team
member healthy enough to want to suit up.
